    i live in the philippines...

my father is an education supervisor, while my mother is an elementary grade teacher...

and as far as i can see... it sucks like hell!!!

schools and facilites are lacking in some provinces and so are the teachers...
the lessons and the materials are a bit outdated...

we also have this "multi-grade" in some parts of the country..
meaning we put 2 grades in one class...

grade one and two are in the same class... some schools even have grades one to four... then five and six...

even the schools in the cities lack teachers... the rooms are a bit dirty its not a good place to study at all...

you'ld be lucky to land into a private school... but majority of the people here are below the poverty line, opting their children to go to public schools...

some have to "walk" a few kilometers just to get to one...
and some haven't even attended any classes at all... >.<

education here is somewhat the least of the worries of the government here... they're busy with the war in mindanao and the sex scandals that they dont bother bout education anymore...

    still... i love being a filipino... wo0t!

    Ditto to what kryz said.

Also government officials here busy themselves with the stupidest of issues like porn, scandals & not focusing on more pressing issues like food shortage, betterment of education & lessening corruption :p

    No man there's something wrong.
Why would you bother worrying about those scandals if there's no one to listen anymore? The population either died of starvation or are just not enough educated to understand what the guy on the stage is saying in front of that microphone

    Country: Malaysia
    Education System: sucks ass
    Age 5-6: Kindergarder
    Age 7-12: Primary School
    Age 13-18: High School
Age 19: Extended High School (Optional) or A-Level (Optional)
Age 20+: Diploma level College (Optional), Degree level College (Optional), Local University Degree (Malay only)

Unless you are damn rich, forget about going anywhere above Diploma level (unless you are a Malay, then you can get into Local University easily), you are lucky if you reach Diploma level......IIRC in US you get your Diploma when you finish your High School and get your Degree in College and we have to go to College.

Our country's Elementary & High School facilities are lacking. Students are forced to get lumped together in classes composed of a hundred or so students in one classroom. Our public teachers are extremely under paid causing the best teachers to go abroad & work in other countries for better pay, while schools here badly need them :(

Let's see. I'm a Filipino but I don't study in a public school. I study in Ateneo de Manila University.
The topics are Algebra, Trigonometry, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, History, Filipino (separated into two topics), English (separated into two topics), IT, Art, Music, PE, WorkEd (or shop class if you prefer) and extracurricular activities. Its great here. I feel really sorry for those studying in public schools. I wish they had better education and uncorrupt systems and governing.

Indeed Krusha, it was a bit silly of me, no doubt you have noticed from my other posts spelling is not my strong point.

Okay Kaze-san. Our school in Kuwait sucks BIG TIME. It is even worse than going to public school in the Philippines. The teachers here don't teach us well, the subjects can easily be learned by a 9 year old, and students don't know a thing. The teachers only write on the whiteboard and tell us to memorize it. Every question they ask are exactly the same as the questions in the exams. I have an average percentage of 92% and Amirul told me his average is 86-90% but here in Kuwait I get 99-100% and Amirul got a 95-96%!

    Education here really sucks.
