dude smrpg legend of the seven stars is one of the shortest RPGs out there.

    ...and one of the best.

I beat it in a day, however getting all of the little secrets is a different story. I also beat Zelda Ocarina of Time in a day, and got ALL 20 hearts, and upgradeable equipment, AND 95 skultullas. after that I was like screw it!

there's a little secret when you go into the cave just before boarding Johnny's shipwreck.

you save near the shaman and save the invincibility star in the next room.

    Unequip all of your gear.
You use the star, kill EVERYONE! then let one of the few guys remaining (or the guys in the next couple rooms) kill you. Hit defend for the whole battle.

You die, respawn back at the savepoint, with all of the EXP intact. save.

the star and the enemies should still be there.
    rinse and repeat.

after about 10 runs or so, you won't see much reward in doing it anymore (low exp) since you will be OVER 9000!!!!!...or 25.
remember when picking your level up bonus, pick the stat that gives the most bonus, and keep in mind which characters are magic users and what ones are physical attackers. (mallow, and peach should be recovery magic users mainly) mario, bowser, and geno should be in attack/defense. bowser is good with HP bonuses as well.

this process takes about 45 minutes but cuts off AT LEAST a few hours since you are already leveled close to the max.
try not to be level 30 already, since the rest of exp you get from that point on is a waste, meaning that your efforts are a waste of time also doing this process.

those last 3 or 4 levels can be obtained before you get to bowser's castle.

and that's how i beat it in a day.

Meh, I just use cheat codes to max out Character stats on most RPGs, so I can just skip all of the tiring random battles & focus on what's most important, the awesome plot.

Yeah that's the reason why I use cheat codes, if any are available for a game.

    Who does these days anyway?

You live out your life, then later you realize, crap what did I do all this time!? Then you live out another new life, then the cycle repeats itself, on & on...

when i read the thread title, i thought to myself "acceptence is the first step to the 12 step program" i think thats how it goes. not sure.

but seeing the list of games, you have to either look like tweak from southpark or maybe you just like old school games. theres really nothing to be ashamed of or anything. there are people who play more games than you. which is pretty sad but then again its all based on the person. if you truly played ALL of those games with some being incomplete, then good job. judos to you and hopefully the book wont fall apart. then you could pass it on to another generation and they could keep the book going lol. but with the pages being in the way you described it, i suggest rewritting it. you never know, it wont last long till it falls into ashes or dust.

why'd you include games where you used cheats on? that's not finishing a game IMO.

but anyway, nice list, and get a life :D

OK, you tell me how to beat, Ozma from FF9 without cheating, I tried & it isn't easy.

As for things like Punch out, where you only have several seconds to react, I have problems with that seeing as I have a slight dis-advantage seeing things fast enough.

With RPGs, I really don't give squat with stupid side quests, like beating the games at Gold Saucer in FF7 because they're not important parts to the game's story. And by that let me tell you guys that in RPGs what's important for me is the story, so screw with level grinding, I just want to finish the story just like reading a book, I don't care for bathroom or snack breaks so long as I finish the book I was reading.

And yeah, I am a retro gamer because I feel these older games are way better than most of these new ones you people are playing with. These games may be riddled with flaws & most of them may be shovelware, but they were fun in their eras & are still to this day, well for me anyways.

    @zangief:

I dare you to play & finish Contra WITHOUT the 30 lives trick & without save states & lets see how far you'll get in the game without getting game over'd LOL
