If the RROD appears once, the X360 is rendered useless for ever?

 

no all of the xboxs i have bought and sold including my one have been rrod consoles and there has only been one i couldn't fix.
but a dead console is still not useless as someone will buy it on ebay to fix or use as parts

 

I've recently opened up my xbox and cleaned all the dust out of it and cut the mesh out of the back. Now i'm woundering how to do that heat sink mod to get the air flowing through the heat sinks properly. I've had a look at it and i'm not quite sure how to do it. So equitypetey, or anyone else that knows how to do it, can you give me some details on how to do this? If you could it would be much appreciated. Cheers.

 

you need an old cereal box and some electrical tape actually i can show you i have my mates open right as i speak




the red line is where you place another bit of cardboard on the inside to separate the flow so one fan sucks on the cpu and the other on the gpu

it looks a bit bodgey but if you have sufficient air flow to your 360 it really does keep it cooler
i also suggest you think about tailsmoon fans as well as they move more air

Yeah i'm definately getting some talismoon fans as well just need to get a bit of cash behind me first heheh Thanks heaps for that i'm getting onto that mod right now.

 

don't know where in the world you live but ebay is the best place to look for tailsmoon fans

Air flow mod is complete yeeeeaaaaa . Yeah I have thought about flashing but don't know how to do it though..

 

Quite easy. I've flashed it myself. Pretty much getting the SATA controllers etc. and the tools to open up your Xbox, and the necessary firmware software to flash the firmware on the DVD drive (BenQ etc.), there are many very good tutorials out there.

 

I've had a look at some tutorials on how to flash the dvd drive but i'm not quite sure if my computer has a SATA card or what chipset it has.

 

find a tutorial for it and it should tell you the chip set of the sata controller you need
go to ebay and you can get a pci card with the chip set in from Hong Kong. costs next to nothing.

but i should tell you if you want to play on live don't bother flashing as they are doing ban waves again but if your not bothered go for it.
