Wood R4 - The New Firmware 99.8% Compatibility (CK3)

    I am currently using the "English-1.34" firmware on my R4 SDHC w/4GB microSD for my DSL. I just went to load on the COD Black Ops but no luck. I have searched on many pages to find what I believed to be an update for this flashcard. I downloaded: R4i V1.29b, r4 sdhc - ysmenu, WAIO v 1.15 (repacked v2.0)(CK3), 23051-Wood_R4_v1.19, Wood R4 for Clones, 12182-wood_r4_v1.11. So far not having any luck. I do have an original R4 with 2g chip working. But any time I try to do anything with the R4 SDHC I just get nowhere with games either not loading or white screen. I have looked for answers on plenty of forums but will ask once more before I give up. Is there a current firmware file posted for the this flashcart? http://www.r4sdhc.com/r4sdhc.asp I currently have the black cart. Not the newer one w/red/yellow sticker.

    The ONLY issue I have with YSMenu is that it's all selective game fixes by people that can choose to just stop at anytime. Although this is true for any firmware, YSMenu has a bit of a history about it that makes me hesitant to use it.

    Plus, I just REALLY like how Wood R4 looks. :3

    For R4 Original use: Wood R4 for R4 Original
    For R4 SDHC use: WAIO 1.15
    Try installing WAIO on R4 SDHC again and see if it work,
    Follow the instructions below the Wood download link in the spoiler!

    i got wood r4 to work in my R4i SDHC (www.r4i.cn/)

    i jut found out a way to get "WAIO v1.15 (REPACKED v2.0)(Wood All In One) for R4 Clones" working for those who get two white screens.

    download the zip file and unzip it. go to builds folder and copy the "__rpg" and "waio.nds" and paste it in the root of your card.
    for this to work you need moonshell2.nds in your flashcart. otherwise if you load the waio.nds file directly it wont work. also note that you need to have you original firmware.

    after loading the ds with your carts original firmware open moonshell2.nds

    from that open waio.nds. then it will work.

    i don't know if this problem has been solved earlier by someone. but when GS DD was released it didn't work in my flash cart so i tried to use wood r4 Waio, but it didn't work. i got the two white screens. follow my method and hopefully it will work for you as well.



    Edit:- It will work with every .nds file of r4wood when opened via moonshell2.nds

    i was able to open r4wood by the above method but when i try to load a game it says "processing please wait". after the message goes away nothing happens. i tried a different wood.nds file then it goes to the loading screen and it says

    init fat succ
    fat0:/__rpg/rpgloader.nds load
    (fat0:/__rpg/rpgloader.nds) fail



    what should i do. i tried every wood.nds file but none of them works

    I am very confused, i have tried EVERYTHING to install Wood R4 on my cart. This is what i have; an R4i V1.4 from www.R4I-GOLD.com. It's updated with the latest kernel V 1.56 B. It's a yellow cart with a black sticker. the back of the cart has R4I GOLD 2 engraved into it in white. I cannot figure out which Wood R4 files to download. Im not sure if im doing the steps wrong? I reformat my card. I have the R4i menu and moonshl2 folders, R4.dat, and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn rom in the ROOT folder. I download the Wood R4 v1.19 for R4iDS Gold and the .NDS file to load Wood R4 v1.19 for R4iDS Go. So now i have R4i menu and moonshl2 folders, R4.dat, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn rom, __rpg folder, _DS_MENU.dat, WOODR4.NDS, Wood R4iDS Gold v1.19 (CK3).nds in my ROOT folder. Do i have to delete any of these files off my root folder? or rename anything? PLEASE HELP, ive tried everything!

    From what I see is you have R4i DS Gold 2.0 ? The wood r4 for DS Gold only work on the 1.0 version. CK3's page 1 has the notification next to it, you might have missed it.

    See below, I quote it for you from Coolkill3r (CK3) 's topic page 1:
    And YWG placed a note at the bottom of the DS Gold's _rpg folder changelog too.

    Sorry, but you'll have to delete all those files for WOOD as it won't work in your cart (be careful not to delete your R4's kernels). Best try YSMENU/TTTMENU, here's the link : http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=43121.0

    Correction, it works on all cards except v2.0, not only v1 also v1.4 etc

    Hey I can't find the root r4 on my r4i gold revolution v1.4 and since I replaced the _DS_menu I can't access my games so I'm pretty much fucked, any help?

    The root R4? Usually when we refer to 'root' it means the screen that shows up after you double click e.g. F:\ R4, the place where you see all your game rom files inside your cart, that's the root you're looking at.
    As for 'you replace the _DS_MENU.DAT', did you meant was you replaced the R4's _DS_MENU.dat with the WoodDSi Gold's _DS_MENU.dat?

    No, you're not "fucked up". You will if you decide to step on your cart. ???

    Just do this:
    1. Duplicate (back up) all the content of your cart to a folder inside your computer
    2. Delete everything related to WOOD R4i DS Gold that you had input
    3. Go to this site: http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ or the web address you see on your Cart's box package.
    Look for the firmware you had used that matched the cart name you use.
    4. Download it and replace everything with the replacement for your cart, and re-add your games into the cart too.
    5. This should fix your cart problem for the R4i itself
    6. If you want to re-try adding WOOD, first drag the _DS_MENU.dat that belong to WOOD into the _rpg folder, this will prevent conflict with the R4i's _DS_MENU.DAT
    7. Copy the Wood's boot loading file that ends with .NDS and the _rpg folder
    8. Now try it again. (you might need to add 'moonshell' too, its in the site I gave on top.)

    If wood still does not work for you, then try TTMENU/YSMENU.

    Yes I did replace the R4's _DS_MENU.dat with the WoodDSi Gold's _DS_MENU.dat, There is no r4i gold revolution 1.4Vs there only R4i golds should I try one of those?

    If its correct. Download it and replace the ones in your cart. Add 1 game first, and test it. If it work then you can try installing wood again. (REMEMBER TO BACK UP EVERYTHING BEFORE ERASING!) Do not use the UPGRADING PATCH!

    1. You ask for someone to upload their's for you to use.

    2. You check the link I gave you on top (http://www.r4i-gold-r4i.co.uk/pages/R4i-Gold-V1.4-Software-Download-c-18.html), identify which one is your cart. The one in picture 1 or in picture 2. Download that first kernel first. Next you download the upgrade found on the bottom of that same page.

    About adding wood, that have to wait till later until you find and replace your _DS_MENU.DAT, for R4i Gold. Without it, we can't go forward.

    Well those are the files I need that they showd on your link but I when I click the software download I get linked here http://www.r4i-gold-r4i.co.uk/pages/R4i-Gold-V1.4-Software-Download-c-18.html then I get linked somewhere else and its like there no download. Tryed the one it told me to download and I get a white screen. white screen flash and yeah white screen.

    Basically, you lost your _DS_MENU.DAT for your R4i Gold v.1.4 because you click "replace with" when adding it (Wood R4i Gold's _DS_MENU.DAT) into your cart. When you should have placed the WOOD's .DAT into the _rpg folder to avoid conflict.

    There're 2 options to solve this:

    1. You ask for someone to upload their's for you to use with the risk theirs might be newer or older version than yours.

    -or-

    2. You check the link I gave you on top (http://www.r4i-gold-r4i.co.uk/pages/R4i-Gold-V1.4-Software-Download-c-18.html), identify which one is your cart. The one in picture 1 or in picture 2.

    Download that kernel first. Next you download the upgrade found on the bottom of that same page to make it v.1.4.1.

    Follow the Installation Guide provided in that link.

    Install the old kernel first before upgrading. you might need to re-format your cart. Or simply clean it out and place all the files you had in your cart to a folder in your computer as back up.

    Add the old kernel, and then do the next step.

    Run the downloaded upgrade file .NDS file without any games inside your cart. It should create the files you need. About adding wood, that have to wait till later until you find and replace your _DS_MENU.DAT, for R4i Gold. Without it, we can't go forward.

    Once your R4i's _DS_MENU.DAT problem solved.

    You just need to download the WOOD R4i Gold.NDS and the WOOD R4i Gold v.1.19. This time you drag and drop the WOOD's _DS_MENU.DAT into the _rpg folder first before adding it into your cart. You can also drag and drop the wood r4i gold.nds into the _rpg folder too, but not necessary.

    If you still have problem, write back here and someone will help. Bye for now....
