Instead of "Some Wiis can't read DVD-R" you should put newer Wii's can't play DVD-R otherwise people with older Wii's would be confused if they can or cannot.
    Great guide though

Also, lol at FileTrip and GBAtemp links :p

If I were to update my wii after I softmodded it, will it get bricked?

    I have system menu 4.2U
and all I have is the HBC with a few Emulators

    It may. :\
    It's a 50/50 chance though.

Do you have BootMii as boot2?
If not, then I wouldn't update your Wii.

    What is the update for?

Oh thanks for the info (but it wasn't meant for me though)

When I have my Wii hardmodded, and I update, can I still use it or is it bricked?

I have BootMii as Boot2, on my SD card.

    Just curious.

Boot2 on your SD card? ???

Are you using the nand emulation program called sneek?

The BootMii installs itself as Boot2, but if you can't it installs as an IOS.

If it has a chip, then it may brick, but I don't know if they will detect it or not.

I have BootMii on a SD card...when I leave it in, it gives a screen with 4 icons.

Remember the PM I send you about deleting BootMii from my SD card?

    And IDK what sneek is...

    Need my copy?

    It won't make a difference.

I can't make BootMii as boot2. Only as an IOS and nothing can change that until they release a new version of BootMii that is able to install itself as boot2. :(

Ah...well, as long as my Wii works I'm happy xD
Blow me in technical details and I will start asking things...so don't do that.

is there anyway to install bootmii without it starting up before the Wii menu

    Yeah.

Just change the settings in BootMii.

I don't have that problem as mine is installed as an IOS.

    What icon?

It was really handy if they put a DESCRIPTION by the icons =.="
ARGH... By now my Wii is backing something up...

Wahaha! You went to settings and did the green arrow no? :p

That's the NAND dumper option. I need to make a section on how to use BootMii.

IF anyone cares, I can now verify that you can play back up DVD-Rs if you burn then off at x4 using ImgBurn onto a Sony brand DVD-R took a days worth of updating and reinstalling shit (mostly thanks to Pimp my Wii and Darkcorp and of course ace :p), but in the end it was worth it. Hopefully in the next few days I will be able to test if Game Cube works as it was an ongoing problem for me since I first soft modded it.

    [EDIT]
Game cube works as well, same procedure as burning Wii. (About damn time too, I was starting to think I messed something up during the soft modding)

So now I can play Wii games from DVD-R and HDD and Game Cube games off DVD-R

Yes I did, and my SD was almost full.

    BUT HOW...

What did you do!? if you backed up your NAND on the SD card you can copy it over to your PC in a safe place. then delete it off your SD card.

...but of that's not what your going on about then disregard this and just pretend I am laughing for no reason at all.

Yes I did back it up to my SD...it was over 500 MB.

And I did delete it. No copy's.
Don't want my Wii's memory stuffed on my PC. It's his memory, not her.
