But emotions are important, it is immoral for someone just to think "meh.." when they see an animal killed!

Well there are people like that, but generally people gain those caring emotions from having family.

There's no real reason to feel any kind of grievance when an animal is killed.
Life is painful for every living organism. For one organism to survive it must feed on other organisms or their products.

I understand what you mean, but Anandjones is right.
We care for particular people are animals because we gain an emotional attachment over time.
I personally feel no remorse when I see an animal killed for food. However, I probably would if I saw a dog get hit by a car or some equally pointless waste of life.

In my culture, people are indifferent towards slaughtering of all domesticated animals. We wouldn't care the least bit if a dog/cat/ other pets were killed for food or otherwise. And for people who DO care it's more about their personal/ emotional relationship with the animals or their views on cruelty itself. I am part of the latter, however.
I believe most people would not feel remorse IF an animal is killed (animal rights activists and emotional attachment aside), however it's the manner of which they lose their lives, a.k.a. how cruel the process is, that make them feel bad about it.

Everyone's missing the point, do cats/dogs taste good? Are they capable of providing the correct ratio of vitamins, minerals, etc? That's all that matters really. I mean a huskie's liver has almost a lethal dose of vitamin E, so probably not a good idea for breakfast.

If you guys think it's okay to eat domestic animals then you should also think it's okay to do cannablism...

Not true, eating another species is entirely different to eating ones own species.

How's that? If that is so then how come people would eat their own family member, species is no big seperation, all people are different, black, white, asian, freckly, blonde, ginger, brune/ette, tall, short, shape , size, etc These things seperate species but species have differences on the same aspects, and what of ferals, their characteristics are that of an animal's but they are still the same "species" as us, just because we are closer genetically it doesn't mean we are the same species e.g- apes and humans...

A tiger will eat virtually anything, but never another tiger...

    Wow! Really good counter-argument!... ::)
If a tiger is starving and there is a dead tiger that is it's last hope for food it would gladly eat it than starve anyway...

They are not domestic, they are classed as livestock/cattle

I'd say that definition applies quite well to them actually.

Okay... So I used the wrong word in the post below, I should have used pets or something to that affect...

Why the hell would someone have to think its okay to eat another human if they eat domesticated animals? I don't know about you, but I'd definitely choose to eat a dog over another human any day.

In short, your argument is horrible.

    It's a slippery slope argument.
It's basically the same as "When gays can get married, what will stop people from marrying animals!"

    What stops them now?
Animal marriage and cannibalism are not illegal because gays can't get married and people eat animals @_@
They're illegal because society cannot except bestiality or murder >_>

Hay if it tast good then eat it!! Besides Im betting you could probably never tell what you were eating anyway. I mean Im guessing they cook the animals with fruits and vegetables that will hide the flavor. Ive tried things that I thought tasted like shit like pigs feet, eal, sharks fin and I never even knew what they were untill they (my family) told me wat it was. By then it was too late and it was already swimming in my stomach but I would have never guessed what I was eating.

Cannibalism is completely different, in those countries where they just eat their pets, eating another human being is just wrong everywhere, unless you're one of those people who go "whoa dude, I can get extra strong and get heaps of nutrients from eating other humans, I'll start with your legs". If you eat stuff in Asia, never ask what you're eating, just eat the damn food and keep it a mystery. Personal experience. I have tried dog before, tastes good.

cjdogger calm down, you seem to have taken this whole thing to heart, and personally. We dont want a flamewar.

that said... Loony there are some animals that will eat their species. For example, Pigs. If you feed a pig meat (and many people do) then it starts to crave meat. And if another pig in the same pen dies, the pig wont even think twice about eating it, sometimes they will even be the one to kill it. Granted this is usually caused by human interaction, humans throwing their pigs scraps which contain pork leftovers.

And anadjones I agree, I have had dog before too, it was a little salty but I think thats just the way its was cooked. Like I said, ive got nothing against eating any animal, so long as that animal was treated fairly.
