Why wont our society recognize alcohol as a drug? Makes me crazy!

Illegal drugs are odd in that the only thing you can trust when considering ill effects are other users. Would be nice if the legal drugs had the same local network info. I would rather give a kid an E before an aspirin unless I wanted to kill the kid. I don't make a habit of killing kids, and illegal drug suppliers really do not want to kill their clients, but it does seem that legal drug producers really don't care if you die using their products. Have a wee search on google for aspirin or paracetamol look at the death rates then do the same for cannabis or heroin or MDMA or acid. Is is not very odd that all of the known abused drugs, even crack cocaine, are less likely to kill you than aspirin?

Drugs are bad. Information is good. You can drink yourself half to death and abuse the world before finding your first joint. The law is an ass.

Funny. There's been enough research for alcohol and cigs, and we know they cause damage if they are used too often.
Yet people look down on others who use pot, crack, etc.

If there is research going on for marijuana for certain diseases/conditions, then why the hell won't they use it in public at least as a last resort medically? [I think more testing is required, though].

IIRC, Most of the drugs that are illegal were used medically at one point. So WTF?

Cannabis is used medically. Chronic arthritis anyone?

They also used Cocaine to numb teeth for dentistry, before it was banned... I wonder why it was banned? Oh, probably the fact it's extremely bad for you.

But after many uses they turned out to be extremely dangerous (ie meth). Meth was available to buy at any pharmacist if you asked for it.

While it's arguable to say if crack, cocaine, meth, PCP, speed, e, robo, etc etc is more dangerous than either alcohol or cigarettes, I'm pretty sure that marijuana isn't as dangerous as any. And as I said once previous, marijuana isn't a gateway drug, alcohol is. Once you're drunk, you get the idea that you're invincible and you can do anything with no adverse effects, stupid bravery (this is why people do stupid shit drunk), this can lead to more drugs.

Marijuana on the other hand doesn't do that.

    Fun little graph.

    THE END.

Cannabis leads to other drugs, via the dealers and people you meet. That doesn't mean people use them, or they're stupid enough too, but it does lead to knowing more people and gaining the ability to get those drugs, if you so wished, with ease.
If people have, all this time, been meaning it to dumb you down so you do stupid shit, then they are astoundingly retarded.

Didn't think of it that way. Nice.

This isn't even the conventional argument for marijuana being a gateway drug, but instead a more rational one. And it suggests that marijuana wouldn't be a gateway drug were it legal in the first place, as the only reason it is comes from illegal social ties.

    And so I like it.

Bottom line is, the will of the user. A drink with your friends? Tilt one back, hell, drink a 24 pack. If you do happen to become addicted, blame society as the human race does, it's not your fault, it's your parents. Your shrink, your teachers, even God.
    After all.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Everytime I turn on the TV, I see some ad about Drink Driving. If it really is that bad and deadly, why not ban in in the first place? And in school, they tell us more about not doing illegal drugs more than legal.

So... If you don't want alcohol banned.... Would you rather dope be legal? You idiot, you didn't think properly about your post, You have all this bitching then you say you drink, yet, you still have a problem with it?
All I could think that ENTIRE post was "This dickhead wants dope and shit legal, what a turd >.<"

And if you get rid off alcohol hell, lets ban coffee too >.<

It's as stupid as banning junk food >.>

    1) What's wrong with legalising dope?
    2) Coffee does very little damage to you or those around you
    3) As long as it's not abused, junk food does very little damage to you and never does any to the people around you
    4) This is a rant...

What are you talking about specifically? I don't think it is a stupid question at all. I'd be interested in your reasons for believing it is.

Half of young people using cannabis suffer side effects such as paranoia and blackouts, a UK survey suggests.

studies show young people who use cannabis regularly or heavily are at least twice as likely to develop a psychotic mental disorder by young adulthood than those who do not smoke.

Psychosis is a type of mental health problem, which includes conditions like schizophrenia, that can seriously affect the way you think, feel and behave.

I do agree that cannabis can have adverse effects when used by underage people, but that isn't a good enough reason for it to be banned imo, responsibly used as an adult, cannabis has no proven adverse effects (at least not long term ones).

    just google cannabis side effects.

and for people that claim its not addictive, oh yes it is! i know a few people that just cant stop, they NEED it.
i dont know about physical addiction but mentally it is

It can be addictive, but then so can tobacco, alcohol, junk food, etc.

    Site1, Site2, Site3.

There doesn't appear to be any conclusive proof that Cannabis has any adverse side effects with normal use. It does aggravate previous mental conditions, but this isn't that bad compared to the effects alcohol can have. Perhaps you could link me to some sites that you have found which show cannabis' adverse effects.

Good answer. Why do I have to take my eyebrow piercing out at work but nobody has to take their earrings out? One is socially acceptable and one isn't.

I'll agree on the mentally addictive part. I was a heavy everyday smoker for 4-5 years and have quit for about a month now because of drug testing at new job
(which I think is so wrong, what I do at home in my own time should be no ones business but mine)

No withdrawal symptoms but it was a bit hard at first yes.
