Why no love for the DSi?

That's my point. You're proving I'm right. It's a stupidity to create something as the DSi, when there's the DS Lite.

Yes, but it is more of the fact that it came too soon. They are delaying the delivery into NA/EU because the lite is still doing so well.
I am not going to disagree that the Lite is still an excellent handheld and it is not of importance to upgrade to the DSi.

What makes me get annoyed more than anything is people BASH the system instead of saying, "It's nice but I don't want to spend the $xxx on it." Instead you see, "There's no GBA slot, it has useless features, there is no reason for it to be out, it's a piece of crap." type statements.

But it isn't exactly 'stupid' to make the DSi, Nintendo wants to evolve and grow, reach more consumers and try new ideas. They have even stated they are NOT trying to reach the core gaming group but to bring everyone in.
I guess the internet is just full of "hardcore" gamers and nothing else though.

I think some people should actually get the DSi before making too many large statements. I want to get it myself and try it out eventually. Developing for it would be fun once that's possible.

My company has been looking at the DSi and there is no agrave.ifi file programmed into it. Which is very important for DS games without that file some DS games wont play on the DSi. Let me list some of the games that require that file.

    Legend of zelda: phantom hourglass
    Castlevania: Order of ellecsia
    phoenix wright series

those are the ones I know about at the momment. Nintendo should look into this :(

wel the only reason i am not getting a DSi is because i have an R4 for my DSLite and it is doing the job very well for me. The DSi just has most of the features that the R4 has basically.

Edit: sorry for the massive image.

handhelds just havnt been making significant enough changes when releasing a new version. They make them lighter, slimmer, smaller, and add a few gimmicky things, but in the end they all do the same thing.

    Heres an example:

    DS:

    DSL:

    DSi:

Now is it just me or do they all look the friggin same? What im getting at is when are we going to see a significant change? something that people can see is new. For example look at the differences between generations (image below). The NDS,NDSL and NDSi cant even be considered different generations, they are barely even modifications. Consumers need something different, a massive change that can be obviously seen, otherwise it just looks like a get rich quick/milk the consumer scheme.

Maybe it won't work in some other case? Almo, I can see your point.

Almo, you have a good point. I guess I can be a sucker sometimes.
All I'm missing is an NDS Phat but I'm getting one from someone that just needs a new top screen. ^__^

it's true but those things would only function based on what? the user. the additional features on the dsi are to attract non gamers or light gamers and the other features are purposes for them to buy it. the web cam, music player and web surfing are great features for typical people who could not only own a game machine but also have some other features which could also be used to accommodate other uses in their daily life. to own a game machine and yet have an internet to use for basic functions and not only have those things to use but an availability to play games is very intrigueing. why? because they are now owners of a ds system. this gives them an opportunity to check out ds games while also using the other functions of the dsi. so basically nintendo figured out a way to make non gamers to become gamers.

this is why i say nintendo is very smart and very important to gaming as compared to sony and microsoft. of course nintendo isn't perfect either as they do make mistakes.

you can get paper from the nintendo website store. find out how to get the paper.

Found 4 boxes of paper shipped <$15 ;D

But ultra I agree and have said that before, they aren't targeting core gamers, they're making it a product that will reach everyone.
This is probably why I get angered at the complete disregard for any positive traits that are in the DSi. Most people online that are browsing gaming websites consider themselves "hardcore" gamers and can't be bothered with that casual "crap".

be careful with these people. they live in their own world and they can't or would never argue unless they are right. to them they are always right and never wrong. when i see a "hardcore section" to a forum, i'd never enter it because you'd have a bunch of nutcases who are very rash and irrational. try to make an arguement and what they'll tend to do is ridicule on your grammer, name, etc.... while providing valid points. be very careful with these people.

lol I have a GB classic too (complete with rechargeable battery pack, bag and light magnifier)

I have the rechargeable battery pack too. You can catch a glimpse of the cord on the left side of the GB. Looks like a black spot though.

Go to 4chan's /v/ - video game section and it is nothing but people trolling and saying all games suck.

I'm sure Nintendo didn't look over something as great as that.
How exactly does the possible lack of agrave.ifi effect DSi game playing ability.

And I'm not going to play them anyways, it was just a test. I've already beat Phantom Hourglass and OoE.
    Not interested in Pheonix Wright.

I'm just warning you guys that you want to be careful. We had been sent some DSi's by nintendo for development reasons and we found that it lacked the file so we spoke to Nintendo who didn't believed us and called us liars which in my opinion is highly unprofessional. A guy I knew imported a DSi and he tried to play phantom hourglass however it ruined both his copy of the game and the DSi.
