People just notice the graphics and make their opinion on them.

    Wait, I'm one of them

Ive had this discussion tons of times.
Just ask gamers or look online for the greatest ever games, you get results like FF7, FF6, chronotrigger etc. None of these have outstanding modern graphics, graphics are just one part of a game and on their own do not make a game good.
2 of my favourite games of all time are lufia 2 and football manager/championship manager. Lufia has 16 bit graphics and football manager has no graphics.
Some genres are better for good graphics though, FPS's where you need to see clearly when you have milliseconds to react.

Well it depends on the genre of the game really.

Devil May Cry 4 for example sets a pretty cool "aura" and makes you feel like a badass killing machine.

Games with cartoonish graphics are usually fun and cute.

Fun and cute graphics aren't going to work in Scary or Sci-fi Action games.

    Oh really?

Ever played Japanese PC Visual Novel games?

All of those use cartoony or Anime style artwork & they work just fine.

I do hope you know what I'm talking about though ;)

I can't express to you nice people in words how much I LOATHE graphics and hardware whores. Gaming is about the games. It's the gameplay that makes a game. Don't care about the games? Then you can devour yourself you moronic poser. Gameplay should be every good games devoloper's first concern.
Priorities of a good games company:
    1. Gameplay
    2. Storyline
    3. Music/Audio
    4. Graphics

    Gameplay>Graphics.
How many more ways can I put it?

    Something not completely related:
Will graphics whores get drawn to the 3DS because of 3D Graphics?

You do know that there has been discussions on this forum that have been advocating that piracy isn't a good thing?

Also, people aren't understanding what makes a game have bad graphics. The only games I see mentioned are 2D sprite based games, which aren't bad graphics, even now.

Some people do this because its incredibly easy. You look. Good? YAAAAAYH! Not amazing? BLAAAARG! Judging it another way (say, based on the story, which some games these days don't even have, which I find appalling) would require some sort of cognitive function.

Nah. They have consoles. PIRATES, on the other hand, will definitely pick it up. Because Nintendo almost doesn't even try to defend itself. And, pirates usually have SHITLOADS of extra money, because they save a TON on games.

Well to say the truth I play games since 1996, I enjoyed so bad the graphic in that time, and it was so shitty, compared to today's graphic, but the game is so funny, so funny that I own a DVD with around 8000 roms from old systems, I wasted many ours of my time playing Super mario Bros. , Donkey Kong Country Series, I still Love Resident Evil from PsOne.
And in these days I've assembled a PC focused for gaming, these latest games I like to play 'em in very high quality, so I bought a Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 to do it.
But even so, I enjoy Wii's games, they're special, even having the "kid graphic" as told here.
And in PlayStation 2 I enjoyed Madagascar and Ice Age, they ain't the best graphics, but fo sho they're funny, entertainment, is all we gamers need, however the graphics or which system you use.
I'm gonna download Donkey Kong Returns when I get time.

i guess people just need to understand that grafics don't make a game. most of my frends have a ps3 but not a wii or any other of nintendo's consoles becasue of the amount of games containing kid frendly grafics. They don't like mario, pokemon, kirby or zelda (yes. they even haven't played zelda IN THEIR WHOLE LIFE). I understand why they haven't played kirby, some have played pokemon but left becasue of the newer generations and i have absolutely no ideo of why they haven't played mario or zelda. some have said becasue they think it's for kids age 5-12 but it's only couple of people who have told me that.

the only people that say the wii has kid graphics are less mature than kids.

It has poor graphics compared to the other two consoles, not kids graphics.
The games may have kids graphics.

When someone says kids graphics I think of cartoon type graphics, it doesn't necessarily mean bad.

'kid graphics' is such a vague term, it literally means NOTHING.

Graphics are everything. who cares about gameplay? really?

As long as people buy the game it doesn't matter.

Think about this, though i am an adult gamer and purchase my own games/consoles, a large segment of consumers are parents.

parents that concentrate on work and family and don't give two shits about games; they just wanna get something for their kid-

What do these parents look for? first price, but then they look at the cover- if it LOOKS good they will buy it~

    Sad but true.
