When they lose, they might say or report that your a "HAXOR" or whatever the hell they accuse you for.

Because people can't accept it when they suck at playing a game, especially when there's leaderboards, or your wins and losses are recorded.

It's so obvious when people pull the plug because they're losing at a fighting game.

this is also a major problem in other DS games. I used to play Yugi-Oh online (mostly to test my decks, I found deck building far more entertaining than dueling itself. People would turn off just before you hit htem with the final attack or something. Connection errors abound. Much Like the noob tubers, the stupid nuke switching move in COD is a pain too. Also something that could be easily fixed as well, but is left alone. Don't get me wrong, If I lose, I lose, but I want to lose in a fair way. People who kill the same person over and over to raise their kill count and get a nuke is a useless waste of time for everyone playing.

Snakers are nothing wrong. It's a skill in the game that isn't easy to pull off. If Nintendo thought it was cheating, they wouldn't even have implemanted that ability.

I stop playing Mario Kart online bc of that.

    Snaking is actually pretty simple.

Most of the tracks are too wide making snaking simple.

They didn't mean to implement snaking. It's an exploit of the drifting system, Nintendo got rid of snaking in Mario Kart Wii.

Snaking is simple and i say of course there is nothing wrong with it... seeing how anybody could do it, it only requires a bit of extra skill.
I'd say it adds some depth for the hardcore, just like the awesome shortcuts (even if they were unintended) the series used to have, you can even snake it on the thinner tracks if your good enough. I almost hate Mario Kart on the wii.

As for the people who disconnect, they are merely a bunch of cowards, pussies, chicken shit etc. they may not have any losses on their record, but they will never have any wins either lol.
i'm sure deep down they acknowledge the fact they're pathetic failures.

I'm actually pretty sure that quitting counts against them.

    This person says the true.

Snaking isn't cheating because any person can do it. Simple as it.

Besides, I used to play some online fighting games, its exactly that reason. People plug off to not count as lose.
Worse are games with chat in.... god the amount of "HACK" "F*** U", "STOP RUNNING" , "STOP", "NOOB" and other typical phrases you have to hear around.

If you win you are a hacker
If you lose you are a noob. Thats the rule of 90% of the players in online game, also defined as "Randons".

Well, as Nat said, snaking is an exploit of the drifting system. Therefore, cheating.

I guess we just have different opinions of the subject.
For me there are diferent way to call "exploit."

    Taking F-Zero GX for example:

For me this is Common play:

    Skilled / expert play:

We are getting kind cheap now

    Exploit and cheat way:

So you see, under my reference of "normal", snaking and shortcuts on Mario Kart is far from cheating.

How do you snake in that game? It seems much simpler.

Btw I just saw some videos of mario Kart Wii. And i noticed that they changed the drift system for some kind of Air tricks with boost?

Well sure its a better idea.

Mario kart isn't a good example. To those who've played GunZ, there are fancy swordplay that you can learn overtime which really break the game for new people.

"Turtling" is a style of basically spamming the Block button to avoid many forms of attack. Many people think it's cowardly, and they often die from turtling. And when blocking, if your opponents attack you, they flinch and become vulnerable for 2 seconds. Not only that, if you're attacked while blocking, you get a Quick Massive attack, where if hit, can stun your opponent for 3-4 seconds. Really breaking the game.

And I use that tactic all the time, because the Creators of GunZ MEANT for all the Frame-Skipping attack glitches to happen. So I consider it not a form of cheating but rather a skill, since it's rather hard to time your blocks to really really good TBFers.

Again, both the examples brought up for Mario Kart and F-Zero's snaking are both exploits and are a form of cheating. Even though you can do these thing without using a cheat device or without use glitches, it's taking advantage of a design flaw in the system in place and using them as they weren't intended, ie against the spirit of the game.

It's also obvious that Nintendo didn't mean for snaking to be in the game, as they got rid of it in Mario Kart Wii. Instead of getting a boost for hitting the right and left as fast as you can, they made it so you get a boost after drifting a certain amount of time, and you get boost for tricks.

This is why i prefer games with "protection" methods.

See i also had this problem on mario kart ds (I was in a ds gaming clan ddedicated to owning people...YAY FOR SNAKING!)

But in games like lost planet 2, there is a dnf record, get over 30% and you loose the ability to earn career points, plus it makes people think twice before joining them (I joined someone with an 70% dnf just for fun, one on one, domination from me, he quit half way, PATHETIC).

Plus it affects you in ranked matches (no rank ups), so it's more incentive to NOT pull out.

If they made it so a powerslide gives you a speed boost, I'm pretty sure that they let you use it as many times as they want. It's a bit too tempting not to do it. Their tracks are too wide, snaking is too easy, and a few of their carts are built perfectly for it, and it's something that can be picked up right away.

The point of the game is to get from point A to point B as fast as you can. You can't say it's "against the spirit of the game. "

If all players can do it then its not cheating, its just using whats available.
