I've never played the game but I used to watch sometimes when one of my friends played it. I do have the soundtrack and listen to it regularly - "If you still believe" is wonderful even to those that never listened to it in the game context.

I tried to play the game once. I found it repetitive and a trifle boring. I did enjoy the music though.

I suppose at the time I was heavily into Final Fantasy VII & VIII. I just didn't enjoy the game play of LoD.

You found Legend of Dragoon repetitive, but not FF VII & VIII?! I don't understand how that's possible. Loved LoD myself, Shadow Hearts kind of reminded me of it when I played it.

  4. Really? It's not like every time you bought some new armor or a new weapon you simply raised your att/def. ~50% of all armor & 30% of all weapons in the game had an ability. i.e: stunning, striking fear, avoiding instant death, etc.

and Dart's last weapon, the Soul Eater, actually took 10% of your health away every time you used it but it is soo strong compared to the one before it. & its effect is easily nullified with a therapy ring. There are two of them that i know of, & you can find them both for free long before you get the Soul Eater, which is also free as a boss drops it.

Although this is an ancient bump, I do love the game. Dart's first transformation was incredible.

I've been slowly playing through it for the past month or so. The game doesn't really set itself up for a sequel though. No real complaints about the game except that Dragoon additions suck.

yea seriously about the dragoons & the first transformation. dude make sure you level up on the blue birds (they give you 1000xp) at least for 2 levels. It will help so much in the long run. If you don't know where they are, their location is in between the Gigantos Village & the Valley of Corrupted Gravity. You won't kill even one of them without Speed Up & the Magic Sig Stone though. Here's how I kill them & it works great (also works great for yellow birds outside of Bale on disc one - they drop 300 gold)

Use Shana, Dart, & either Haschel, Meru, or Rose.
Land one hit on it then use Magic Sig Stone against it.
Immediately use Speed Up on Shana and then attack with everyone until it is dead.
Works almost every time unless they run away (which they are prone to)

I hate using those birds, and level grinding is wholly unnecessary. It's smart to work on Meru, Kongol, and Haschel though before the end game if none of them are in your normal party. Meru especially needs the work. Her battle at the end of the game sucks if she isn't ready.

  8. Hold up man i've never made it to the end of disc 4 cuz my sister started playing on my save file the first time i played (~2001) & i lost interest. So what exactly am i coming up against with Meru?

You have to battle a kind of tough enemy with just Meru. Without saying too much, you'll want to keep your stock of items ready, and keep Meru within at least three levels of your core party. Working on her additions since hers are more SP based would be fairly helpful too so that you can get to the ones a bit more powerful. You can't go Dragoon in that fight, so you just kind of have to try.
