Which Squaresoft/enix game is the best?

I don't think Squeenix is done with the Chrono series just yet. I mean, it's just a huge cash cow waiting to be milked...

 

a tie between FF tactics and FF VII

 

Hard one for me. I really liked all of the Final Fantasy series aswell as the Kingdom Hearts series...

 

i think its FFVII first, cuz of its story and gameplay, then its probably chrono trigger, but it might be crono cross (im playing it at the moment and so far its better than CT but ill see ) i dunno after that, there all really good

 

in my humble opinion Final Fantasy Tactics (playstation) wins for best storyline period, Crono trigger (super nintendo) wins for the best battle system, and Final Fantasy VII (playstation) for best audio (purely based on the battle soundtracks)..... oh and if breath of fire 1 (super nintendo) was made by square (not 100% might be by capcom) its another awesome game which would tie for my number 1 favorite game ever contending with Final Fantasy Tactics << everyone should really play FF Tactics once just for the story alone>>

 

Square Enix has always made classics, I'd say all the Final Fantasy games on SNES and Final Fantasy XII on Playstation 2 which I lovd, besides Final Fantasy Chrono Trigger is a very addictive game, I have already completed the game two times looking for a hat-trick. Final Fantasy tactics was abysmal compared to the other Final Fantasy games according to me. Final Fantasy VII was also very good, really loved the graphics. People say Chrono Cross is also very good haven't played it's like a remake to the Snes version.

 

Chrono Cross is completely different to Chrono Trigger, it's more like a sequel to Radical Dreamers, same type story, characters etc. Graphics are better than FFVIIs.

 

Final Fantasy Tactics, hands down. It wasn't overly hyped, but it just surprised me and totally blew me away. The story, the battle system, customization... almost perfect. Chrono Trigger and Kingdom Hearts are tied for second

 

I liked the less known Square Enix games especially the ones that were never released outside Japan.

you don't have A2 on there so i suggest you play it if you enjoyed the tactics gameplay.
i am currently replaying all of the starting from the first one.

super mario rpg is one of my favorite games of all time.

for the final fantasy series, i liked 8 the most because of its abstract gameplay (compared to the others) i loved the junction system because i could customize it to absorb most of the elements and block most of the annoying statuses. plus i like triple triad.

the game was especially challenging since the enemies level up faster than you do.

FF8 was the first final fantasy game that i ever played and it had good graphics at the time.

 

i think that best Square Enix game is Kingdom Hearts 2

i didn't think KH2 was THAT great... mostly cutscenes, not a lot of gameplay.

 

I preferred Kingdom hearts 1 for gameplay, Kingdom Hearts 2 for a story.....

 

square made some compilations (fabula nova crysalis, project ivalice, 20 years anniversary, and the upcoming kingdom hearts compilation). for best game, i have to go to the overlooked tactics and tactics advance series

Also, it seems about everyone is ill-informed of the subject of a Chrono Trigger 3D remake. First, there was a fan team that started to remake Chrono Trigger in 3D. It looked great, there's videos of it you can find on youtube. It's seriously impressive, but the team received a threat by Square to end production of the game. So, the team eventually continued the project in secret, but ended up receiving another threat by Square. Recently, Square has announced that they ARE remaking Chrono Trigger, for the Nintendo DS. And that's where the issue stands, if I recall correctly. So, no Square was not making a 3D Chrono Trigger; it was a fan project. Yes, they are making it now, and no; there are no plans to cancel development.

 

Actually no, Chrono Trigger is going to be remade in 2D, probably not even remade, just ported with some new additions. Unless you tell me otherwise with some sources, I'll scream of joy.

 

Oh you're right, I removed the "in 3D" to avoid future confusion. And yeah it's apparently somewhere between a port and a remake, some extra stuff, including a new dungeon, I guess.
