i'd rather yank a feather from a chicken and sharpen it to be used a writing material rather than writing with a sword

no, swords fight wars. Pens usually start them.

I think the symbol of the pen and the sword are being taken too literally, wht happened to them being symbols?
Neither pen nor sword can cause wars nor peace, they are only instruments, they need a person to use them to achieve these things. If you take the use of the pen and the use of the sword literally, then the pen is powerless without the sword.

the second world war was started by a pen... Hitler was pissed off about the Treaty of Versailles written at the end of the great war.

its becuase using his so called might causing his lost in WW1 which gave the pen the oportunity to punish him thus the treaty of versailles was born so in the end the true main cause why hittler was pissed is because of himself

Hitler had nothing to do with WW1... he was a mere footsoldier.

Actually Hitler believed, like many Germans that Germany could have won the war, it was only due to the German's government's will for peace and accepting of the treaty that Hitler even got into power in the first place.

the treaty of versilles was made so the germans would pay the damage they caused in WW1 but the germans thought it was more of a punishment so they secretly stood up once again

how about all the religious books and the crap they have brought on the world

    anyway

a sword can't draw a moustache on a sleeping drunk. i rest my case

yeah but religious books help people to become more peacful in a way so it seldom promotes wars and the one that promotes wars are the religions itself not the books

but if the books didn't exist there'd be one less excuse.

I can't think of too many wars which haven't been started by religion. I mean, the Crusades, the 100 year war, the Troubles in Northern Ireland, 9/11. The other wars are usually fought for material gain, but a good few have religion behind them.
