Runes of Magic is pretty good. It's basically a WoW clone, but free.

If you don`t mind to grind Monsters like hell, yeah. (kill XX of these, Defeat XX of that kind of Monster). It got PvP, and it`s really cool if you join a Team to conquer one of the huge Dungeons (with endbosses). These are the most dramatic moments, Very similar to WoW.

Yeah, i think it`s one of the greatest, `cause of the Battles. Well, you can play for free, but than you won`t get all the Dungeons, and a limited Area.

Oh, and btw: Both Games are running on a 56k Modem without any lags. :) :)
They`re resetting my Net-Connection back to 56k until I reach my monthly Download-limit - but it`s pretty nice that it doesn`t affect playing my fave Online-MMORPG`s.

Ah, I've never played WoW, and have no intention to, but I may try it out later, mainly cause I'll have nothing to do and get pretty bored otherwise.

Perfect World International has better graphics than WoW, and is COMPLETELY FREE!!! The client takes a while to download, but it's SO WORTH IT!

Hey there's an MMORPG browser based 3d game called Earth Eternal, not sure if the general public can play it, but I was a beta tester on it and it wasn't bad! Check it out:

Take your pick. The website has reviews that outline the pros and cons of all the games. Tells you how big the playerbases are etc.

Dungeons and Dragons Online. Easy enough to unlock everything via grinding or you can be P2P. Fun combat, and instance based quests.

It's kinda like Guild Wars meets DnD.

Hold up you just call Runescape the worse game ever, than throw in a replacement for one of the most bugged up MMOs out on the market, DEAMED by multiple reviews and personal experiences.

..Man.. Runescape was a wonderful game if you like clicking alot and grinding.
Knights is just an ugly bug load of junk which makes no sense but I'm sure you get the picture.

I agree, been having some fun on DDO myself recently. The combat system is excellent.

Not sure if anyone's suggested Aeria yet, if anyone has, i apologize :]
Try looking for a game you like on Aeriagames. I've been playing Dream of Mirror Online, Shin Megami Tensei:Imagine, Twelve Sky etc.

They've got job classes, missions, events, PvP etc (it can depend on what game you choose though) And they're free :D

no all of these games are all wrong :p
    Atlantica Online
    http://atlantica.ndoorsgames.com/center/pds/pds.asp
basically you have one main character which can have the weapons, guitar, sword, bow, gun, axe, staff or spear and then theres a chain saw which you can use once your character reaches level 100, but for that you start again but all rich and stuff since you have your other character,
anyways up to and until level 50, you can summon one more mercenary which uses any of the weapons above, but all have different classes like a shaman staff (healer) and a witch staff (magic attacker) and you can have a group of 9 mercenaries at the end to do as you tell them to do against the opposing enemy team, there are dungeons, guilds, nations (groups of guilds), guilds can control a town and as the world of atlantica is based upon the real world theres a lot of towns
you can team up with 2 other people and their mercs which makes 9x3 = a party of 27 which makes it really easy to go hunting in shadow dungeons as other enemies spawn and there are good drops
the pvp is great too as for every battle you get these coin thingies which you sell to NPCs for some coinage, it gets better around 80-120 as the coins you get fetch about 200k per coin and you get around 7 per win depending on your division
so all up, atlantica online is like your average run of the mill rpg game except you control 9 people and its turn based
Note: DO NOT JUDGE ON THE TURN BASED BIT - just because its turn based doesnt mean its not fun, ok file size is large but still, reckon download it anyways
if you do play it, add Syphon on the Argos server (best server)
