i don't know. except for looking cool in front of your friends and other people, the ipad doesn't stand out that much

I got my reason. I don't need a console 'cus I don't care about the Xbox or PS3.

I like the iPad but I prefer having a iPod Touch because it fits in your pocket. I mean, do you see someone with a iPad on his/her bike?

If I really had to choose? Neither since I already have a PC, a laptop and a phone. It wouldn't be practical.

The point of the iPad is NOT to carry it around everywhere you go, but for the ease of access, it gives you quick access to the internet when you do not want to turn your computer on to search for a wiki on pizzas. It's meant to be used at home, though you can carry it for train rides or such.

in other words, its completely pointless. If I'm awake my computer is on. Also my phone has wifi and a web browser.

Nope. You carry it with you as an alternative to a netbook/notebook or similar. It's essentially an ultraportable.

Pointless for what you do, you mean. There are other users who would take issue with your assertion that the iPad has no practical applications.

It has a point for the people that do not have a computer in their range or want to have a touchscreen instead of mouse and keyboard.

You CAN carry it with you, it's like a simpler computer.

If the ipad has a sim card like a cellphone, then i would consider it more as a cellphone than a computer. to be honest, i would love to see my students using a ipad than a tiny cellphone.

I could easily see them texting and using it for cheating. and if somebody would try to steal it like a snatcher or pickpocket thieves would, hehehehe, would love to see how they would do that.

As for Ipad being useful. I would have to say yes. Its a comp. As long as i can use it for browsing, typing or basic computer uses, its extremely useful. But if you will tell me to switch from my netbook to an ipad, i would say no. i love my netbook, and it has never failed me yet.

you're not making any sense -.- , cellphones are meant to be small and pocket-sized, why would they make the iPad like a cellphone

Oh, sorry, the ipad i used was a wifi-only model... i didn't know there was a 3G model.
Scrap my other post. The ipad can be used even without the wifi. So technically, the ipad can be considered both as a computer and a cellphone.

This makes no sense. iPad never gets a sim card slot. How would you call with the thing? Your face touches it and reacts on it, plus it would be bigger then your face.

Everything can be used for texting and cheating, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad...

It is no computer either. It's a freaking big iPod Touch.
    iPad ain't a cellphone.....

iPads are usually overpriced pieces of crap anyways. Sure it offers the best stuff any user could do WITHOUT having to worry about something like that getting stolen. First Apple decided to make the slim notebook, then the iPhone, and now the iPad (whoopity dooo!). And they are crap because the hardwares inside cannot be easily upgraded. Apple places their own technical gadgets specifically within their own department, so consumers cannot upgrade any of its content without having to go to them directly.

Consoles on the other hand are good enough for me. I am used to them, so the regular use of the consoles do most of the work anyways.

I want to know what are the consoles discussed here . Is it some kind of new computer or is it a console like a playstation, a wii, a xbox and other gaming consoles like that?

Do consoles today can access the internet for browsing, chatting, using ms/open office and the like applications?

Have they devised new technology and combined them with the gaming consoles?
I want to update my tech knowledge. Thanks.

What I meant that the portability of it is not it's main feature, it's the ease of access that you get.

a computer is not a console, you can play games, but its not a console.
yes, consoles today can do that. the ps3 can access internet, aswell as the wii. and the xbox can access facebook, and other apps, but doesnt have an internet browser. you can chat with people aswell.

I thought it was both, since nowadays the systems and consoles have merged into one entity that either way is fine. Computers are systems and the same goes for gaming consoles. But if you want to be technical computers are called terminals and gaming consoles; systems, okay.
