    I use:

    Corel Painter 11
    Adobe PSCS2
    Paint Tool SAI

But I mostly use Paint Toll SAI due to its flexibility and easy to use brushes. PSCS2 would probably only go for graphical work most of the times.

Favourite art programs and some boring critics:

Painter X:Really useful, can make some effects as if you were doing real painting...The file size is big and so be beware of it,the blending is really nice there too~But it has no filters like Photoshop and it takes more hand-working like a real painting :p...This program is recommended to proffesionals artists as well as amateurs~

Photoshop CS 4 Extended:It's really useful consider that I do scanlations sometimes(manga) and its effects//layers are EXTREMELY useful as well some quick tools,it's an all standard program, made for all and can be of use of all things~(Documentation,Photomanipulation,Drawing...Clearing an image,Modifying a file...all!(I hope that you won't use it for an unwise purpose, though))But it's not as good as Painter X when it comes to special paintbrushing effects, but it got its own ups and downs too!Still,it's really neat and perfect for manipulations~

Paint NET and GIMP:Very Basic, not up to the standard of Photoshop and Painter, but guess it won't hurt when it comes to free programs...ALTHOUGH I SUGGEST OEKAKIS,oekakis are better than this piece of ****.Shi Painter has pen sensitivity and a better blend and the new ChibiPaint IS GODLY(It's free and it's like a mini-Photoshop)

Oekakis: The bests ones are Chibi Paint and Shi Painter(Just love the pen pressure, but it can't beat Photoshop though),although some users still prefer the Olde PaintBBS(Like me :p)It's simpler but somehow likable like the MICROSOFT PAINT OHMIGOSH.

Paint Tool SAI:My favourite:Quick to load, light,Basic Features, like a Mini Painter X with a bit of Photoshop neatness in it,and it can open Photoshop files as well...THE LINES ARE EXTREMELY CLEAN AND PERFECT FOR USE AS WELL AS THE SELECTING TOOL,I JUST LOVE IT,THE BLUUUE.It's not as expensive as Photoshop or Painter and it's worth the money~

    Price:

Photoshop:Something beyooond 500$,it depends which versions though, but that's about it,you sure wouldn't waste your money just for that, aren't you?

Painter X:Less expensive than Photoshop, and it's worth the money:About 320$,last time I checked through their subscription e-mail.It's a pro program,if you're gonna play around with it,you'll find it a bit boring xD...

SAI(As for paint tool sai):About 60$,cheap compared to the rest above and it's really handy...

    The rest are free~~~
    But since we're pirates....uh-oh.

CS4 for pics, GIMP for sigs, and a bit of Paint also, depends on what I want to do. CS4 is great for editing and GIMP is really easy and quick for sigs.

...Yes... But I'm actually too afraid to use it.

I've got PhotoImpression 3.0 (came with a camera I had), Adobe Photoshop CS4, Corel Painter 11, and Inkscape. I tried GIMP a long time ago but the UI (can you call it that?!) killed me.

    Oh, and MS Paint.

Corel Paint Shop Pro X is the program I use. I used to have PSP9 but it got deleted accidentally when I had to completely restore my computer. But that's okay, because I like 10 better.

GIMP for everything. Sprites, graphic, whatever. Except for drawing. Paper is better.

I'm picking up Blender and ZBrush right now. I've always had fun with 3-D models and sculptures, and the only place I can interact with clay or wooden blocks is at school, which is ending soon, so...

I mainly use paint.net for touch up/playing with pics and sketchbook pro for drawing, decided I couldn't afford to pay for photoshop anyway

I use a combination of GIMP and Inkscape. I used to use Photoshop CS-<latest version> (my university gets great deals from Adobe) and Illustrator, but it was too much of a hassle to boot into Windows just to use them. It disrupted my workflow to the point where I was losing productivity by using those tools, so I re-learned everything using GIMP and Inkscape, and now I much prefer them to Adobe's alternatives.

Once I download GIMP 2.6 again, Paint would be my second.
