    They have a machine you could put something leather in, and it would kick out a liquid with "the flavor of leather".

    Damn, just realised I omitted 'practical' from my initial post. The only practical way I can see of implementing smell/taste for home entertainment is the way I outlined above. Although, if the process of manufacturing chemicals became cheap enough, perhaps it would be practical to expect the end user to buy new ones each time they wanted to rewatch the film.
