mcafee is really good and it doesnt really slow down your computer like norton

mcafee is mediocre actually. Not surprising since it's also owned by symantec.

Eset Nod 32. Never failed me.

Kaspersky is also good but it slowed down my computer a little.

DON'T BUY NORTON. It install too many unnecessary applications.

That's true, it can only detect 40-50% of all infected files.

I use a unlimited trail patch for nod32 and never had a problem
and I've read somewhere Norton is good in one thing it has the least number of false positives

not sure about that but when the actual detection rate is less than 50% you avoid it at all costs.

I have been using AVG FREE since 2004. It has been very reliable. AVG + Firealarm Firwall (free as well) can safeguard your PC every well.

um, they say avira is the best, but why does it detect false positives? or all anti virus has false positives?

thus avg have lower false positives? cause i need to install a new anti-virus on my laptop i just reformatted. ( big mistake )

also, avg is free and also has a bundled anti-spyware, right? cause i once downloaded a avg and it only had anti-virus... but that was long ago.

no, AVG free is only antivirus. It' s been proven repeatedly that separate programs are better than all in one solutions anyway.

I like AVG by preferance. The auto-protect is good. I would use Norton Antivirusbut it uses to much of my precious ram.

its fairly useless at detecting viruses as well.

What is the anti-virus that has the system requirement lowest. like it only needs less than 128mb of ram?
