I tried hunting the Bullfangos but I never ever get any fur or hide or whatever...

Ok, so you are hunting the right monster.

It tends to help if you're carving in the right place.

For example, if I wanted a higher chance of getting a Popo tongue, I'd try around it's mouth.

In this case, try the Bullfango's back.

Of course, this is from experience. Don't know if it's true or not.
