    Two reasons...

    1) I live in South Africa and we just went through a ressesion, no money = no imports = no games = no fun.

    2) Because no one can do a damn thing about it.

    1) They are just too much.

    2) My dad got me the r4 and some games were pretty girly and lame so i found this website and i pirate.

I pirate because it's too expensive ($50 to $60 USD) for new games. That's a SINGLE game.
Some older ones are also too damn expensive.
Imports, forget it. Give Arm+Leg+First born son.
Digital Press rare, Price is Arm+Leg+First Born Son+Wife+Soul+More.

To see real rare games, do a search for Scarcity >=7 any console.

    Off topic some more:
Chrono Trigger is a Rarity 3 for SNES. It's not that rare. Just need to know where to ask for it.

I pirate because I am a poor ass college student. PLUS I am ok with it because when I have the money I actually do buy the games/music so as to show some support.

I am proud to own an actual copy of The World Ends With You. Money well spent. :D

Only reason I pirated was because I wanted to get the other three Higurashi games and since the cheapest one I could find was about fifty dollars I decided to pirate.

    Well worth the money.

Because what the hell kind of tard would spend their hard earned money on something they can so easily get for free? If I get all my DS games for free, I can afford all those super awesome PS3 games! I wouldn't have been able to pre order New Vegas if I had PAID for all my DS games.

Also, I think of it like this: Damn near all my DS games are japanese. Most of the games I BUY are American. So, I am stealing from the Japanese and giving to my country. My pirating is extremely patriotic.

The main reason I did is because I cannot afford to pay upwards of £25 per game. We don't get that many games out where I live anyway. Some of them look good but when you try them they are not worth the money you have to spend on them. I go to Thailand on holiday and you can buy an R4 card with 20 up to date games on it for about £15 -£16. When the makers of any sort of game be it for DS,X-BOX, WII, PS3 or any other type of game station realise that they are charging way too much for the games they produce and start to bring the prices down, then and only then will they be able to stop piracy. Stop for instance charging one price in the US and then double that price in the UK. Its called GREED....

    2 Reasons:
    Nostalgia
    Funding problems
Losing the ability to play older video games on the GC and older than that i can deal with. But i can't drop around 40 dollars for a DS game every time i want to try something out, especially if the game sucks. I'll be honest, I found a lot of good games for the DS during the pirating on this site, however I found a lot of crap too. Crap that I'd be more than pissed if i had bought and unable to return under some certain store policies and whatnot. The thought of stealing from hard working people doesn't make me feel right at all, but it's not like they're practically robbing us either, not to mention all of the other times I've gotten some of MY hard earned crap stolen from me either. In my honest opinion, i think the whole "pirating crime" is a method of leveling the field a little bit. I'll give back to the community once they deserve it. Not that I would deserve it more, but some people need to remember that money is nothing to play around with, which people do all too much of. Besides, there are plenty of other people who aren't in the loop that pay for their games all the time. They support the companies enough to keep their monopolies strong! So the smart people who know how to get things that are friendly to their wallet can continue.

    -Because I'm not rich;
DS games like pokemon and Zelda, here in Mexico are about 50 USD (no kidding), yes there are cheaper games but are puzzles or simulation dating games and so; Wii games are about 70 USD, whatever the heck the title is, like sports or rpg, Metroid Prime Trilogy is 95 USD last time I checked... hm... I might buy it because of the artbook... on the other hand we have internets and .pdf files...
-Because I like some games that didn't come out in America, like Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan heart, I found an english patch, yay.
I did buy Pokemon Platinum but had to "travel" to a mall far from my home... I have a flash card(cart?) and it's easier and faster to load it with games than working and earning money, so yea I'm a pirate, no, I'm a vamPirate!
    ahem,
if I really like a game I buy it, but must check if it's the month I'm not eating.
-Because I'm either smart enough or an a**ole to take something I "should've" paid for with minimal effort.
-And I think most of us, if not all, agree that games are expensive and sometimes they suck and we get angry for wasting our time and money.

If games were cheaper, I'd buy a lot.
Would piracy end? No, I don't think so, but it would decrease.

And sorry for my english but like a said I'm from Mexico, "The country where pikachu spelled backwards is a demon name, and ranma promotes homosexuality" ¬¬ just kidding...

My reason was because my DS broke. When I was young I got pretty frustrated at one certain game. (Mario Hoops 3 on 3) Every time the opponent scored, I smacked my head at the screen .____. and then it broke. My parents won't let me buy a new one ._____.

    Im inclined to agree.

This raises an interesting question though. Who decides the prices for NDS games?
Is it the developer or the shop that buys it from the developer?
Do they purposefully push up a best sellers price by 10 USD?

the publisher sets a recommended retail price, the shop has some leeway around it.

    1. I'm a cheapskate.

    2. Some games are hard to find in shops.

    Very simple really!
