What is your worth?

Not to be rude, but when did this topic become "Post Your Life Story For Discussion"?

I believe that people, as individuals, have no significance whatsoever. Sure, people around you might miss you if you disappeared for no apparent reason, but those people aren't exactly important, either, are they? The only person I can name off the top of my head with any sort of importance is President Bush, and he'd have no power whatsoever without the "support" *coughcough* of the people.

In conclusion, the individual human is worth next to nothing. However, an angry mob with torches is most definitely worth your attention.

 

This became a discussion of "my life story", because there seems to be a problem with Faryen_Ralph-95's account, you can't send him a private message for some strange reason. I was supposed to answer his question regarding why I was such a pessimist through the PM system, but as I said, I can't, so it ended up as a discussion here

Anyways, my worth is whatever other people deem I'm worth. And frankly, I could care less. It's better NOT to think about "what if I hadn't been born" types of questions. You are what you are and you should live life to its fullest potential. Correct me if I'm being overly optimistic..

The worth of your existence as perceived by others. What does it matter if your already gone?
Are you gonna come back from the dead and visit your grave and see if someone brought you flowers and lit you candles?

 

Uhmm... Maybe it wouldn't be bad for anyone if I'll die. First they of course would miss me and something but after week or another they'll forgot me... people have skill to forgot things about me after all so...^^'

But it would be the best for everybody who is close and ''close'' to me if I wasn't born, peace.

 

cahos what you need is a reliable religion(i suggest catholic/christianity)
maybe it wouldnt hurt you to attend mass every sunday

Christianity isn't perfect blacksun23, did you know that during its spread via the Crusades & the Dark Ages, that humanity has lost a lot of cultural beliefs because the first Christians marked every other religion or belief as Pagan therefore evil? And because of this we now have no knowledge as to how the older civilizations' culture function? Take the Pyramids, if the Rosetta stone wasn't found, we would not know how the Ancient Egyptians' culture worked?

As for my "personal beliefs", I consider myself an Agnostic, I gather belief systems from various religions & only believe those systems that don't clash with each other. As an example, I believe in the Buddhist & Hindu belief in reincarnation because it may be different from the Christian Life ever after, but it kind is similar. The Christian Heaven & Hell ideology states that if you're a good person, you go to heaven & if you're evil to hell. Well in Hinduism & Buddhism, your "next life" will be affected by your previous one, if you've gathered good Karma, you get reincarnated to a much better next life, if you've been a jerk, in your next life you get the other end of the stick. Also, in Final Fantasy 7, the life stream ideology kinda coinsides with the reincarnation theory so there

And as a Christian (or a Hebrew person as Christianity's beliefs have strong ties to Judaism) didn't you ever got this Feeling that the book of genesis has holes in it? Yeah sure, God has these awesome powers & all, but where did he get them? And in the starting passages, "First there was nothing then God said, let there be light..." Where did he "get" the things he used to fashion everything? And what puzzles me more is, if he intended only good things, where did the serpent (which was Satan or the Devil etcetera) came from? Did he intentionally made an "evil" being just for fun?

And guess what, these questions were answered by a religion Christianity wrongly labeled as Satanic, Wicca. In the Wiccan Creation, God was this God named Marduk who slayed the nothingness or Chaos with the aid of others who also disliked the Elder ones (Which may or not may be evil). Marduk slayed the Ancient one & crafted the universe from the remains of said Ancient. It may sound far fetched to non believers but after reading through the Wiccan Creation theory it answered a lot of questions.

Mind you though, I still value some of my Christian beliefs & traditions, like attending the Prosession of the Black Nazarene on my Birthday (Yeah I was born on January 9 & unlike most kids growing up I never experienced having a grand Birthday party but I don't mind) or participating on the various rites during Holy Week but I don't go to Mass because I hate listneing to asshole proud priests who give "pointless homilies" & siting passages from the Bible which is full of holes & saying things like "don't have sex with the same sex or don't rape people" but you read about priests doing said things. I'll only start going to mass IF & ONLY IF Jesus Christ himself led it.

I also love doing confessions, because I like to see the priest's reactions to things I say concerning e - life like "Father forgive me for I have sinned, I downloaded an entire Depeche Mode discography using utorrent" or "...I have sinned because I ripped my cousin's Eraserheads Album using only 192kbps bit rate" or my personal favorite "...I have sinned because I downloaded a DS game that wasn't even out in stores yet!"

Could you please stop preaching in the forums, I've seen you do it all the time. Loonylion has told you to stop before too. Don't shove a religion down a persons throat if they don't want to be apart of it. Instead respect other people's beliefs. Isn't that what Christianity tries to teach? Respecting other people! (Interpretation of the "love your neighbor as you love yourself" concept)

I personally take offence when someone "offers" me their religion and tries to convert me, and it is annoying to see them do it to other people. But if you say so...

 

My worth? Society dictates that its grades, papers, licences,diplomas and the job and income that define all our worth. to hell with this.
