I obviously sensed the racism. You could ignore everything except Japan, which is kinda related to this topic.

My main point just revolves around genetics & evolution per se. Why would you value a thing if it wouldn't contribute to further developing your species' genetic traits hereby advancing evolution? Believe it or not, forming relationships is all about sex & propagation. Screw all that Christian idea of love not being sexual as in most cases, it is. "But what about friendship status & the need to belong?", that too involves genetics & evolution as "the need to belong" is apparent even in other animals.

And being a Science Fiction fanboy myself, I believe that to be a Sentient being you need to have had a genetic/evolutionary background to be considered a "being" in the first place. Was Skynet & the machines ever considered a Sentient Being in the Terminator series? No, it was always been called "it". Same goes with the machines in The Matrix, they were considered its as well.

"Well what of Robocop & the Borg in Star Trek?", yes those ARE Sentient Beings as Robocop was once human & the borg originated from the conglomeration of both Bio-matter & technology to form techno-organic matter, similar to what happened at the end of Beast Wars Transformers.

So yeah, reploids, Skynet, The Matrix & its Sentinels and any non bio-matter originating intelligent thing will never be Sentient.

Humanity has been defying evolution for quite some time now, though not in evolutionary terms. We allow "bad genes" to procreate (people with genetic illnesses) and are trying our best to prevent people evolution would usually weed out (ie. those lacking common sense) from being killed before they have a chance to procreate. We've been putting a lot of work into defying our nature for even longer. With monogamy, the genetic diversity of each offspring goes down and we are more prone to contracting certain detrimental genetic mutations. Men also try not to give into displays of dominance anymore (something they haven't been terribly successful at). Men are now expected to help look after children. I could go on.

I don't think you realise what being sentient means...you seem to have just applied your own meaning to it.

i guess another argument to this could be the "dont knock it 'til you try it" haha.... have you ever had sex with a robot? i havent...

[sarcasm] but the thought has crossed my mind now robo-booty![/sarcasm] :D

we could be a little more optimistic i guess since neither one of us has actually been in a relationship with a robot... we should try and find a person who has and get their input if we could..

Sooo... that means that you also hate homosexuals? After all, homosexuals can't have children together, so why should they all value one another?

Love just happens. It's uncontrollable. You can't help who you fall in love with, be it robot or human... to an extent, maybe.

You're entitled to your opinions, naturally, but I think you're taking things a bit too far/personally. You're coming on very forcefully. Simmer down a little, hm?

i think alot of people wonder this same thing (not that he hates homos) but why they all value one another?

i think part of the meaning of life IS sex and propagation he makes a valid point that everything but robots do this... i mean robots could reproduce but not in a natural way and they'd have to be programmed to do this as well.. robots only think because the creator made them think not because they just do

    Its fiction.
It doesnt have to make sense.
People like you ruin fiction by pointing out ILLOGICAL PRACTICES.
But if this were real life robot relationships then this whole topic would have a point.

    My hypothesis:
Those people that make most Japanese stuff are pretty much making these robot "women" to fill a gap in they're own lives.
That's a nicer way of saying they are pathetic.
Its the same for anime, they probably try to make they're own alternate reality in the form of anime.
But again, this is just a hypothesis.

Hey, anime is the best kind of television ever! Fuck you kids with your MTV and your Fox News and your tweeters and...whatever the hell else they like these days.

Although, I have to agree with you about the japs and their robot women. They make good TV, good games, and good music, but they are some pathetic fucks.

Obviously, they can't find their own partner... I mean, look at that Japanese guy! He talks in monotone, his hair is so messy, you can't see his eyes, and they were working on something for 3 years... When they could have went OUT SIDE.

Anyway, Yeesh, the robot looks creepy.
