so generally, the stylus is unneeded and a waste of nintendo's development funds?

The stylus needed to be improved before implemented.
    Same goes for the Wiimote.
Too bad the new Wiimote will only work for designated games and won't even register on the older games...

Something's messed up with the quote feature on this forum, it doesn't include other quotes. So I'll do my best with what I've got.

There's a reason why you might not like it, because you were expecting a whole different game. And isn't the whole point of the DS' touch screen to make something new in terms of gameplay?

I prefered Twilight Princess on the Wii, the controls were VERY simple. Swing the wiimote to swing the sword. Aim at the screen to aim arrows and distanced weapons. Oh, so very difficult and required me to relearn how a game is played entirely. Actually not really.

It's also not the same case with Twilight Princess since it was going to be released for the Gamecube anyways. Kirby wasn't going to be made for any other console/handheld.

And Brawl's intention was not to add motion control but to make another Brawl game. Just a simple sequel to Melee.

It is not the same situation as Kirby.

Really, it's not that difficult to use the stylus and touch screened commands. Really, you just have to have a steady hand, it's really simple. Games that are well built and are touch screened heavy (that also almost require you to use the touch screen) work all relatively well. Play Meteos, that game requires precise movement and it works well. I understand that you may work differently with games that also have D-Pad functionality because you are used to it. Moreso than me, since I'm still not that familiar with older video games.

The DS' touch screen works well, and I'm not the only one who says this.

I'm not too sure why you bought a DS really in the first place actually, you seem to like the games that are better off without it. Meh oh well. It seems you'd be happier with a CFW'd PSP, which you do have I see.

Oh yeah, I'm not sure you really care by this point but I have to bring up Metroid Prime Hunters. That game is amazing with the stylus and uses it very very well.

Well, the older games aren't meant to have 1:1 capabilities anyway so it'd be impossible to it to be used correctly.

On the subject of the Wii, I don't like it. :\

I also just realized this is in the wrong board. Ho hum.

this is getting pretty off topic?
shouldn't it be locked now ?

Really? Hm, well this forum has quite a lot of firsts for me, so sorry.

Yeah it has CloudBoii, but all in the sake of progress. I guess... I don't know. And plus locking it would then prevent insane from posting a rebuttal.

This isn't really flaming I don't find but more of a discussion of mutual disagreement.

I just copy the quote tags around each segment of text. The only problem is when I want to quote multiple people, not just one person.

The way I see it is if you are going to implement something new, make it perfect. DO NOT half-ass it and then release it with a bunch of flaws. I don't play very many stylus-based games anymore because this is the person that had to replace their DS THREE times! All three of them were wrecked by my DS stylus, not my Treo's. My Treo has a much softer but refined tip.

At least TP and Brawl have alternative controls. Kirby doesn't. With TP, the gamecube one uses the old controls. Brawl is compatible with a gamecube controller. Kirby just has the stylus, nothing else. I can't plug in a gamecube controller to my DS. I can't go into options and set classic controls. No. Impossible. Why? Because the game requires me to play like this. I have said this before and I will say it again, if the controls suck, I don't play it.

I've calibrated it with the blunt end of a needle, and I even went on pictochat to see just how precise it is. Everything was off by about 4-5 pixels.
I think I did play Meteos for about 10 minutes. I don't remember anything about the game though...

I think my only reason for buying a DS was because I found about a little gem called the CycloDS.
My only reason for buying a PSP was to have custom firmware installed.
My only reason for buying my Dreamcast was so I could play burned games, straight up.

MPH is probably the ONLY fps I like on the DS. My main complaint with stylus-based fps is the alt. fire. Most of the time, it's on the screen. That blows. That means while I take the time to click the icon for alt. fire, like a grenade or a rocket or something, I completely give up my ability to aim it as I fire it.

Like I said before, if it was made with perfection the first time around, there wouldn't be a need to release a newer wiimote that is better.
I haven't seen Microsoft or Sony release a new controller that ISN'T backwards compatible with the launch titles...

Yeah but it's a lot easier in other forums where it quotes the whole post including the quotes inside the post. This is the only forum I haven't been able to do that. I'm sure that it's not because SMF works that way because I've played around with SMF a bit and saw the admin options (my own pointless exploration thingy). :\ Whatever.

Again, there's a problem with either your DS or something along those lines. Although the DS isn't the most precise touch screen in the world, it works well enough for the games that are designed to be used around it. You're the few people that I've seen complain about the touch screen besides the people that go 'Oh IT'S A GIMMICKKKKKK'. :3
I think the DS proved that the touch screen thing isn't a gimmick, there's a lot of games that use it well.

There's a reason why Kirby doesn't have an alternate control function because it was made to use the touch screen. Without it, it's just another Kirby game (by the look of it, it would've been somewhat average with the track record the GBA Kirby games, while they were okay and well made, they weren't up to par to Kirby Super Star). And the game controls fine, if you don't get used of the controls, you just disregard it? Oh that makes a lot of sense.

SSBB worked well if you didn't have a Gamecube controller. Just took some getting used to. I use the nunchuk + Wiimote and my hubby used the GC controller and I managed fine. Even his brother managed fine with just the Wiimote, just because you aren't able to get used to and handle the control doesn't mean they're bad controls.

Same case with Twilight Princess, the game was a cinch to control. My only complaint is that the nunchuck has bad motion function and that my wrist got a bit sore after long playthrough.

You should play it, if you like puzzle games, you'd love it. It's the most addictive puzzle game I have played and it has tons and tons of replay value.

    Yaaaaarrrr pirate. yaaaaaarrrrr. lol

If you got used to the controls well enough, switch to alt is a second nature.

It isn't a new controller, it's an add-on to the controller. And yes, Nintendo should of delayed the Wii and upped the price because they wanted 1:1 control. :\
Microsoft and Sony have technically done that, just in different ways. Microsoft's Vision Camera doesn't work with 90% of the games, and the Eye Toy is the same deal.

Also Sony has the DualShock3. There's still no rumble on the launch titles because it never released with a rumble feature. And Microsoft done something I think a lot worse than both of them, they're releasing an upgraded 360 controller with a better D-Pad only in the UK and Japan, for a limited time.

Rumor is that Microsoft's going to make a controller with similar features as the Wii controller.

Bought my DS in Korea. Shiny shiny special edition one. Gloss Silver or some shit like that. I likes it.
Came with a crystal case thingy and screen protectors already perfectly stuck on... And an R4 with 2GB of memory for "homebrew ;)" purposes.
In all seriousness, I see no point in coming to a (basically) DS emulation site and then flaming the DS for being shitty.
Why are you even here if you don't like the DS?
Funny thing is, my bro has his PSP with the gay "firmwares" and all that bullshit... Yet, I never ask to lend him his PSP, I'm not even remotely interested in it... and yet he always begs me to lend me my DS... I wonder why?
And if the stylus was the reason you/that person broke three DS's, then you're/that person's obviously doing something VERY WRONG.

And to be fair, you can put modchips on any console to play "backup" games.

Every game system has it's cons and pros, but dismaying the whole stylus system seems very strange, since that's what the DS is all about in the first place.
I mean, if you weren't buying the DS for the touch screen... Then you just have a normal GBA with a slightly better graphics and one more screen.

Like I said before, this whole discussion seems pointless and contradictory.

    HAVE FUN KIDS!
    PLAY SAFE, AND PLAY NAICE!

Not everyone here is a DS fanboy. I'm here because this is one of the BEST DS sites and one of the best forum communities, and that doesn't necessarily mean that I think the DS is a technological marvel by any means.

This is opinionated. I am not your brother so this doesn't really help at all with your argument.
This basically tells me that you and your brother really only know one side. This sounds a lot like fanboyism.

Well if you've played any of the games that require you to tap extremely fast, you'll understand the cause. And when I say broken, I don't mean the one screen is disconnected from the other, or half a screen is black, or anything like that. Usually, it's one or two pixels that are blue and my reason is because of the fast tapping.

I am aware of that. I pointed out the dreamcast because it is the only system that can run backups without modchips, or any modding device.

Don't get me wrong, the stylus system is a good idea. It'd be an even better idea if it were more accurate. You have no idea how many times I've clicked something on the screen, and it clicks something else on the other side of the screen. I have lost several different savestates on my emulators because of this. I go to hit load and it clicks save and it overwrites my savestate.

Actually, that's basically what mine is. All of the games on my SD card right now don't make me use the stylus at all if I don't want to.

I am a rather experienced user of emulation and I will always have emulation on every console that I have modded. You might say that the DS isn't meant for emulation or some lame excuse along those lines (which I have heard on this forum before), but the DS is very capable of emulation so I'm going to keep it on there. Its stylus accuracy is one of the biggest beefs I have with the DS and its most frustrating aspect is having to save on emulators.

And I'm going to end this argument here.
This is extremely off-topic now and has basically turned this thread into a DS vs. PSP debate.
I haven't even said anything on Kirby or its gameplay.
If you want to argue further, feel free to PM me your response, or find the appropriate thread.
