this what if idea sucks. what about, what if kingdom hearts was really a clone of super mario rpg?? and all the praise people have had for kingdom hearts is a subconcious demand for the return of super mario rpg?? now that is an interesting what if!?

 

That doesn't make any sense...
Kingdom Hearts is completely different from SMRPG, and there are (fairly) recent Mario RPG games for the Nintendo handhelds (GBA and DS). Also, I think that the main reason that KH is so popular is it's accessibility (how the story and gameplay are tailored to be easy to relate to and understand by people that may not be interested in the more typical RPG game styling - like turn-based battles etc).SMRPG is far closer to being a classic RPG than KH; it doesn't have a story and characters that appeal to - I'm just going to say write it- emos. It doesn't have a battle system that revolves around instantly-gratifying, real-time fighting that (when fighting more powerful enemies and/or trying to unlock certain skills or whatever)o ffers the same depth and complexity found in more traditional RPGs; and so it loses out on the mass audience that KH has.
I feel people enjoy KH mainly for the characters, story and levelling/fighting system, and I believe every one of those things was created and implemented with a modern (possibly "casual") audience in mind. Each one, individually, is enough to make a good game (so long as the others don't detract too greatly); Kingdom hearts has them all, and they are the type that can appeal the gamers used to traditional RPGs as well as a new audience. SMRPG doesn't have such influence beyond Mario/RPG fans IMO (although, it could have someday and I love the Mario RPGs to death)

Well, if I was trolled I don't really feel particularly bad about it; his post was no less intelligent than the things I've seen him write before now. I find it difficult to see how this is any more unreasonable than his previous fanboyisms and ramblings, and so couldn't gauge it.

Sorry for rant, but I just had to.

I keep seeing this, and it's bugging the crap out of me. Sure Halo isn't the god series of gaming some fanboys make it out to be, BUT IT'S NOT A PIECE OF SHIT. It's a decent game. It never seem like people just think it's okay, it's always the most horrible thing in existance or the salvation of gaming. Pisses me off.

 

Ya, wanna piece of shit, that's yong-yong (brave-brave) gameboy pirates. They are the WORST of all platformers, no contest.
Halo is a GOOD fps. Not the best, not the worst, it's GOOD.
Kingdom Hearts is a GOOD arpg, not the best, not the worst, it's GOOD.
As far as ports go, Sony got Chrono trigger and the FFs on SNES ported to the PS1. There's no reason why Microsoft couldn't get the first two or three KH games in a compilation pak or on the XBOX live downloadables. Is it their biggest priority?
