Put the firmware on and update the loaders whenever they come out.
They can be updated via Wifi as well as the cheats.

You should use AKAIO (the unofficial firmware) It's "leaps and bounds ahead of the official firmware" as one member put it once.

It's not hard to use at all if you just take time to learn it.

looks like i'll be ordering an Acekard2i as well, my R4 is pissing me off, and im tired of reading bogus methods to get games working. (hence the reason im BUYING Sol Silver when us englishers get it...)

 

quick question i also have a DSL and dont want a DSi but am wondering whether there would be any difference for me if i got the Acekard2.1 or the Acekard2i

Not really.

But I'd get the 2i because you can upgrade it can play on ALL of the DS'.

 

Depends a lot on the fact that CycloDS has some features that no other Carts have (Stealth mode for example (lets games with AP such as Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes work before official fixes are made)). Both the Acekard 2i and CycloDS Evolution support the newest games and have frequent updates, AK2i with AKAIO and CDS with the official TC firmware (Team Cyclops releases a lot of Beta FW which make the cart quite good and updated a lot (if necessary)). Currently HG/SS work for the Cyclo without flaws (so far). Don't know about the AK2i since I don't personally own one but a few friends do.

i think R4 is the best because i hear good comment about it. i Have a DSTT and its a good card but sometimes its a strange card.
