you do have a right to care about it. just you don't see the point. but it's the right thing to care about others even if they don't care about you.

What did you do to make 'em better?

Nothing. You know why? Anything I do, won't do a damned thing in helping those people. Unless I packed my bags and went... Oh no wait, that's meddling in other people's affairs, which I equally have no right in doing and would equally add no benefit to that country at all.

Just because you give money or care about a cause, don't do it because it makes you feel better about yourself. That's just selfish and degrading to the people who are suffering, getting money from people because they want to feel like it matters. Really, it makes no difference.

No act is a selfless act in line of charity. It's all done to make ones self feel better.

what did you do? there isn't much you can do even if you donate, 1% of anything you give will buy some thing that will help in the short run or rather just keep them alive a little bit longer to suffer a bit more

i understand your last point but the first thing about meddling, it's not meddling if you genuinely care and well we realise by now you don't so instead of adding to the negativity of this thread. just quit it, we get your point now.

I think because of how the poor everyone in the world has become it has changed our mentalities. I can see that by some of your posts. Helping each other is what makes us human. Its how we have become the dominant species since cavemen days. It is because we are merciful.

So think of what you would want if you were in this situation in Haiti. You would want someone to help you and your family right? You people think that if something doesn't happen to you then its not your problem but that is definitely not the case.

actually what has made us the dominant species is by creating amazing new ways to hurt and maim thous not in our tribe nothing in history shows humans making amazing advancements over compassion or mercy.

i'm not in hiati and i probably would want help. but i've not grown up there and do not have the mentality of someone who lives there so i could not say for sure but i know that sitting her grown up in a rich country i would first of all say i'd not live somewhere that can have large natural disasters
    .
and i don't expect anything off of anybody and if i have a problem i don't expect someone else to fix it.

first off who cares what made humans the dominant species, at least due to logic pulled out of the skulls of man, and we can boldly state that we should fully trust anyone on this planet. that's why i wouldn't trust totally what scientist say. instead i'll ask the creator and see what he says and as for the rest of your quote >>> Huh ? o_O lost me there

If it wasn't for compassion and mercy we would be extinct. We would have killed our brethren and war between tribes, etc would have continued but instead we tried to stop fighting and made treaties when we saw so many people getting hurt. People who care only about themselves are the ones that start the wars and fighting again.

But that is not the point I was using that as an explanation but some people can't be changed with words

Hardly compassion. It was in the best interests of both people. If killing them was a better solution, it would have been so. And in most cases, killing them was the idea method.

I know you can't predict when an earthquake will strike or even stop it, but come on Mother Earth have a little heart :(

I am not negative, and I am compassionate. I just see and say things as they are, in my own personal opinion. And me caring about another country that has never had, and never will have any direct or indirect affect on my life is completely insane.

hey cahos...do you know if anything happened to dominica because it's the same island but i've heard nothing on their situation and i find it strange that only haiti was this badly affected...

huh? i don't understand what you're saying with the direct or indirect impact.

domican republic is being used as a staging area for relief efforts in haiti, so it can't have been too badly affected.

k...i still find it strange...because i heard it was a 7.0 magnitude quake but heard nothing about their situation....hmm that lead me to draw the theory that haiti has been cursed with misfortune...and the fact that i saw a local news paper article that denied my theory makes me believe i have stumbled onto something of interest...
