i'm torn apart here, because war is destructive, and should be evaded at all costs. however, this is not very practical, because it is the only way greedy governments can claim rare resources that they don't have in their country cough*BUSH*cough. so, maybe war is bad, but is nonetheless inevitable

Yes, thats what the USA is doing in Iraq using its oil capacity but you're right it's a must for any country to pursue natural resources for their own needs.

War eh? to kill or be killed. not exactly a necessity if i may say so myself. it is just a way to be or remain dominant than the rest. Best not dig up history or there might be war in this community.

yeah.and that's what the experienced adults meant by "always look forward." the past is history, the future is a mystery while the present is a gift. we really shouldn't care about the past and start a war on the races or the religion that had brought us misery before. it's the fault of the greedy people who have already past away. it has nothing to do with their children. why start a war on those people who are helplessly born from the parents who offended other people when the children are not even born yet? they are not at fault nor is the cause for what their ancestors did.

Well, there is no "war in Iraq" between them and the west because all the British and American troops seem to be doing is providing things to Iraq... No war, it could perhaps be a civil war because it seems the country is fighting with itself...

The beginning of the Third War comes true. The history that keeps on repeating itself with no meaning.

The main suspect is always the Iraqi troops and any other terrorist members.

One starts war -> other fights back -> peace is here -> one starts again.

Some might think that because of war technologies can advances in a very rapid growth.
but the technologies that comes out from war is a destructive type to our world (Nuclear bomb).
The more advance the technologies that is acquired for war reason, then the more destructive
it become and thus the cost of war outweigh any benefits that it can offer to human kind.

Furthermore because of war I think we are stuck on this planet/solar system for another century,
instead of working together as an equal human race to solve our problems, to unveil mystery and
explore the universe, we are so busy fighting each other to determine who's got the meat
    and survive1 (if any).

1Natural Selection, Survival of the fittest, or any other Evolution Ideology is a poor and outdated theory.

Actually, the technologies developed in war can be applied to a more practical everyday application. For example, the development of the airplanes today would not have advanced so quickly if the government had not realized its potential as a fighting machine and further developed and improved the original designs of the Wright Brothers.

*Off Topic* War does not really benefit population control, not if it ends anyway. Look at WWII. After the war, there was a large baby boom after the war since the soldiers and their wives haven't had sex in a while and decided to have constant sex, resulting in a massive surge of children.

There was an earlier comment regarding "not looking at the past and and only look at the future." and this is will avoid war. (correct me if I'm wrong) But if this is the mind set, won't history just keep repeating itself?

The fact of history is the we should learn cfrom previous conflicts in order to avoid future ones. Thats my opinion.

it is true that looking back at our history is to learn from their mistakes.however, some races and religion will actually create more war instead when they look at their past as they've learn their ancestors defeat in the past so in order to get back on the ones that beat them, they started a war on they so-called "traditional enemies." in such cases it's best not to look back on their past for such vengeful people.

Think of war as Queen's song "Another one bites the dust" Eventually it will be the provoker of the war that is biting the dust in the end...
