AVG had things right back in AVG 8. With AVG 9 the thing became such a resource hog & AVG 2011 a.k.a. AVG 10 things got really screwy. I've read a lot of posts on the net where long time AVG users, such as myself, actually advising people to never update to AVG 10 & go for another AV such as Avast! or ESET Security.

Best free antiviruses: Microsoft Security Essentials / AVG Free
    Best free anti-malware: MalwareBytes (Free)
    Best free firewall: Comodo (Free)

It's well known in the IT industry. Norton has an abysmal detection rate, and even worse removal rate and is the only antivirus in the world that behaves exactly like a virus, i.e it slows the computer down horribly and is extremely difficult to remove completely.

mcafee is slightly better in terms of detection and removal rates, but has an abysmal rate of false positives. Both were good at one time, but ever since they were sold to symantec they have been complete and utter shite. Symantec has a well earned reputation for destroying anything they touch.

Comodo is awful if you play an MMORPG like Flyff & you play with multiple instances of the game, or what is commonly referred to as multi-clienting as the Firewall does not allow it.

i thought multi-clienting gets you banned from mmorpgs

It's allowed in wow if you have multiple accounts.

never had that problem with commodo when I've had multiple instances of wow running. Besides, a security feature does not make a firewall application 'awful', it's doing what it is designed to do.

I know someone else who has this problem -- I know he doesn't type that because he splits his sentences into multiple...well...lines. And he doesn't type capitalized.

He will be happy to hear the answer.
In the meantime he uses the web messenger. Crappy, but it works.

Microsoft Security Essentials is good, but it doesn't detect everything.

MalwareBytes + MSE = OMG SUPER COMBO!!!

Gpotato for example instated such a rule for the end user's welfare as multi clienting can be such a strain if your system can not handle it. I for example can do triple clienting utmost but I never do so as that's my system's limit.

My country's local host allows it so long as your system can handle it. So far this guy has the most multiple client open ever...

There have been a series of in game log in events that gives out prices to players who log in each day for a given amount of time & guys like this fella are abusing it LOL!

Currently the in game economy is so out of whack because of it.

Good point, I guess "awful" indeed was not such a good word for it. The issue if I recall was with nProtect GameGuard having multiple instances being detected by Comodo.

Ugh, MSN. I hate it so much. If any of your friends have a virus and you make the mistake of trading files through it, bam, virus. Hell, sometimes the virus will just ride through because it can. When my sister used this computer, it had another virus or five every night because she trades files so often with another person on MSN who apparently never cleans their computer.

Last time my sister visited, I did a scan on her laptop and in the first five minutes it found a virus. MSN is the devil.
