Also people need to remember that without mods, some games wouldn't exist. Counterstrike and gunman chronicles are both half life mods.

    Never knew that!

A kinda reverse on what I was saying...but a very interestig one at that...

I should have guessed, the pokemon games were modded in a way (pokemon red/blue-yellow) and so were many others...

mods are supposed to improve the game while hacking is use to create files that can help the owner like cracks.

The mods described should be categorized in my opinion.

    Hacks: Or cheat codes.
    1. Some people don't have the time to grind, so it's okay people do have a life.

    2. Don't let younger players cheat. Let them play the game normally to build character. Let them cheat when their older and have other things to do.

    3. Cheating after finishing a game is alright, helps you get the most out of your moneys.

Mods: Model swaps, maps/levels and gameplay mods
    1. This is actually acceptable in the industry. In fact it's one of the criterion some game companies look for in a game designer.

    2. Helps build a community so not bad for any game. As it's also free promotion. Yes even those nude patches can bring some publicity as negative it may be to some.

Exploit: Bots, piracy and other unitended stuff
    1. Bots are not so bad. But definitely hurts the community. But it does help people without time. This basically a design flaw in most games (too time consuming)

    2. Piracy exploits are very iffy as the very topic itself is a gray area. Has pros and cons that can be discussed endlessly.

    3. Others, depends really.

They shouldn't. If they do, all the games in the world would be messed up.

well i think im pro to this mod matter, coz it:
-lengthen your game (i will take example of oblivion; im still playin' oblivion which i buy like 1 years ago, coz there is always a new thing in game) and let say "up-grade" the game; both from gameplay and graphic (oblivion's combat animation is dull, but there is a mod that make the combat animation cooler; GTA-SA the graphic is't really good, but there is a mod that make the graphic way more cooler)
