Well sorry but I actually consider Okami and Zelda as RPGs (- Town and missions with villagers, - Equipment gestion with different kind of power, - Evolving main character, - Money and treasure chests, - Free Exploration)
>Town and missions with villagers, GTA has missions and an area where there are lots of NPCs. Same with Jak and Daxter. >Equipment gestion with different kind of power, Many games allow changing of weapons. GTA, jak and daxter. >Evolving main character, Almost everygame with a storyline has an evolving main char >Money and treasure chests, Most games have money, even racing games, teasure chests just mean items. Lots of games have those too. >Free Exploration) Lots of games have free exploration. GTA anyone? Every characteristic you listed there can be found in almost every game. Okami and Zelda are action adventure games.
But does each game you quote has every aspects I mentionned? No, they just have one or 2. It takes all of it to make a RPG for me Plus I don't think that topic's purpose is to make a debat about what is or isn't a RPG. Many many sites consider Okami and Zelda like RPGs and it's just a question of opinion. In my opinion they are RPG and that's it. I don't see the difference between a recognised action RPG like Kingdom Hearts and Okami for instance. So if Kingdom hearts is a RPG, Okami is.
Well, Okami doesn't have stat building leveling system to my knowledge...though to be honest I haven't played it either so correct me if I'm wrong in this. And I agree with the other guy, no Zelda game has been a RPG. Unless you consider Spyro the Dragon or Crash Bandicoot RPG's. If so, you're just silly.
So you think RPGs are only games with stats and numbers? Well sorry but on that point we have lots of other games too (simulation for example). And in that case, we would assume that games like Mana Khemia or Saga Frontier2 are not RPGs... but sorry they are! So, The idea that Zelda or Okami aren't RPG is YOUR opinion. It does not bother me that you think that way, so stop bothering ME in order to change my opinion, it's useless, I won't. Subject closed. Edit: I forgot: Okami HAS building/levelling system.
This guy knows what he's talking about. I find that hardcore zelda fans always think it's action adventure. It is a lot like jak and daxter. Which has all of the aspects that you listed. There must be stat building somewhere to make it an rpg.
High five dude, Level-5 rules, all of their games are awesome. Also, Mega Man X: Command Mission was a great game, one of my fav jRPGs of all time.
Eeeeep! I once tried to get all 108 Stars of Destiny on the first Suikoden for PS1. Apparently there was a method for reviving Gremio, but I could never figure out how to do that... Anybody know if that is true...?
