good concept but the splatters don't fit too great mostly the color difference though.
also allot of it is hard to focus on especially the text, possibly something like stroking or shadowing some of it will aid against that.

Changed it abit. I changed some of the blood (made it look a bit more realistic), and also added a few splotches on more of the shirt, to add a little more realism. The shirt is meant to be laid flat on the floor, with the heart on the sleeve (not hanging up). I also did what you said and made the text 'stand out' with a shadow. I blurred and sharpened ( I guess I forgot ), to add some more perspective. Thanks for the Critique, if you feel anything else needs doing, please say so :3

    Re: The Signature Thread

for me it's not missing anything if anything it looks very busy and/or over done on the effects. and it's again a bit of a too harsh transition from light to dark so the continuity is off again.

i like your soul eater and fairy tail ones bar the fair tail one is a bit massive.

Sure, if you like basic stuff and feel like staying, at best, in the higher strata of mediocrity in regards to GFX. It's the advanced features that set the two programs apart, and where Photoshop absolutely slaughters GIMP. I've gone to the trouble of setting Virtualbox up on my Fedora machine just so I can run Photoshop.

EDIT: rock, I'm agreeing with equity. It's a bit too harsh and overdone, and the text shouldn't be such a dominating factor. Let your GFX do the talking.

Soul Eater one is the best, but the text in that still needed some work in positioning and size. The second Fairy Tail one comes a close second, but the text in that would make or break it.

They're not bad, but not outstanding either. Keep going though.

    Re: The Signature Thread

I am more familiar with GIMP, and I like basic features. AND the FREE. No hassle of downloading a bloated installer that is multiple GBs in size (cause of my internet connection), installing it to take up ten percent of my laptop hard drive of 250 GB, and downloading a KeyGen to pirate it.

For me, I would rather take a 250GB hard drive and use all of it, than to have a 1.5TB hard drive and brag about all the space I have left on it.
I would also rather have a free weekend to goof off, compared to the mountain of extracurricular crap my friends try to do just to say that they are better.

I don't need better, I need it to work at minimum requirements. That is how my parents raised me since I could walk and talk...

    Re: The Signature Thread

Well, I might be a bit biased on that since I actually have a legit copy of the CS4 suite.
    I'm not kidding, either.

But my point was, I've seen some okay stuff done with GIMP. Just okay, nothing really stands out. The really great stuff? It's done in Photoshop. There's a quality ceiling where GIMP fails, and to be honest that ceiling's not that impressive from what I've seen.

tl;dr Want to do basic stuff, stick with GIMP. Want to make people go "woah", use PS. My 0.02, I don't really care as long as people don't make my eyes bleed.

Lol, that probably took hundreds of dollars out of your savings. And anyways, on my 20kbs internet speed, and my parents low income, there is NO WAY I am ever gonna get a copy of Photoshop, whether it's legit or not.

The worst paint editor is a hex editor to me.

Not really, although the unlimited activation license cost my school about 10 grand. Our admin was a champ.

    Re: The Signature Thread

it all depends on how much money the school has and whether they have a need for that item for the course, most courses you go out and buy your own shit but often the item is too much for the average mortal then they stump the cash for the course.

my college well the one i was at had the same thing for vista when it came out, all IT students got it for free so they could do the relevant pieces of the course.

I've been working on some signatures... here are 3 of them:

I feel like something's wrong with the second one but can't really find what (maybe I blurred the background too much).
I think I overdid the wind effect on this one, but it's the best I could pull with the brushes I have.
