    Re: The Signature Thread

    Hi guys,

I'm here to ask equity again for a new sig... well actually it's just a retouch of my current one.

I just need to have my character on my sig (which is pretty much outdated by now) replaced with this one:

That's the same character, only 20 levels higher than he was when Equity did my current sig. I know he looks kinda funny, as it looks like he has tripped over a rock as he was running around LOL! But he's actually gliding in this picture. That's just how Psykeepers in Flyff move about.

Anyway, just a photo swap really, but the rest of the stuff on the sig doesn't need to be changed. Oh & that pink bit that looks like it's jutting out of the character's ass, that's part of the wand or scepter he is holding LOL!

does gimp have layer effects? you should try adding depth by using C4Ds and textures. The renders just look stuck on try blending them a bit more.

1.i'd tone down the saturation/contrast on the first, but other than that it has a nice comic-ish effect to it. it looks a bit flat, try working on depth.

    2. not much going on... it's nice and all, just very plain. try adding a nebula stock, the stock is bang in the middle when it should be off-centre.

    3. far too much white/empty space, once again lacks depth, try adjusting the curves if GIMP has it.

i'd try sticking to a more traditional rectangle canvass, curved just seems a bit weird and gimmicky.

    Any Suggestions ?

btw...how do I do the shaddows of the rectangle like forneus did?
    Post Merge: [time]1262218228[/time]
how did you put the character outside the rectangle ?

Hey forneus how did you put the shaddows outside the rectangles? And how did you trimmed the edges of the rectangle?

    Re: The Signature Thread

By using the Blending Options > Drop Shadow then saving the image in PNG or GIF format

Make the BG (background) smaller then the render then save as PNG or GIF

Edit: I forgot something very important, you need to erase the white around the Sig before saving it as PNG/GIF to make it transparent

Thank you ^^...But one question. If I make the background smaller than the render, then when I crop the image wouldn't it crop to a rectangle shape?

    Re: The Signature Thread

Ahhh...the corp tool allways corp rectangle shapes ???

making the BG smaller then the render is for the pop out effect, you can just throw any render on top of your BG so it pop's out :D

How does this sig suck? Let me count the ways.

The render is cut horribly. There are white edges everywhere. If you don't know how to cut a render, just get a pre-cut one.
Your text is small, hard to read, and not anti-aliased. It conflicts aesthetically with the subject.
There is a bunch of annoying blank space on the right side.
    There is no border.
Lastly, the sig is a JPG. Just look at all that artifacting.

    Re: The Signature Thread

you must FEATHER the edges of the render and the picture must be saved as PNG and Interlaced

    Re: The Signature Thread

The render is too far to the left, the duplicate on the right is distracting (try reducing the opacity and try blending it into the background more. Text is too rough and in the wrong place. I don't like the border much and i'm not a fan of pop out sigs, but you're certainly improving.
