    I actually agree that yeah many renders can look good, but as you said they have to be done very well. I personally cant pull it off and neither can most people. When you first start making sigs then one render is best so you can focus design around a central unit. move onto multiple renders later on.

    I remember that sig that equitypetey made, it was about 8 months ago maybe?
    Im really not that into graphics, but I find that it can be interesting sometimes, playing with effects and all. I get what you guys are saying about the multiple renders and to be honest this is my first time working with multiple renders. Just look at my portfolio, most of my sigs have on 1 or 2 renders in it. When i said "thank for ripping it to shreds almo" or something like that, I just meant it sounded too harsh (i agree with it now), but now that I look back on it, I really didnt put enough effort into the sig, so I'll make a new one.

    Well, then I want Almo to tell me about my purple sig and the current sig I have now. I am a beginner and will glady admit it. So rip away. ;)

    @dmac

    it did have a good look about it just it was messed up by the little bit, go back take off the bevel on the sig change the background to one colour (maybe try all black) put on a border (maybe red if that is the colour scheme you want) remove the splat and just put your name in a text that suits the sig.
    try it maybe it will make it look allot better, i thought the position of the renders looked good. also thinking about it make the guy on the left a little less transparent so he sticks out a bit more like the guy on the right.

    @mishy

    your purple sig look awesome just maybe doing something to the render so the edges are not so harsh other then that it looks really good.
    your current gray sig, the render looks a bit out of focus and lost in such a big background, you could try making the render larger and just move it around a bit, ok you well not be able to see the legs but we will be able to see the character properly. it could do with a border and a better font.

    I thought the legs were quite important *wink *wink
    Well at least there'll be a bigger focus on the breasts lol...

    And equity the only border mistake is the bit at the top... The rest is meant to be like it is :)
    I'm making a new sig soon so it doesn't matter...

    I think when I did that sig, I used a tool called "Fuzzy select". I think it does make the edges like fuzzy, as I don't know how to make a smooth render in GIMP...My gray sig, I totally did that one in a hurry. For now, I'll take down so I can make a better one. Thank you for the critique.

    awesome, now that is a good sig well done the only thing i can comment on is that the editing on the render around the hair you can still see white but hair is hard to do but other then that well done

    not too bad, I have a few comments.

    First off the border... a 3px stroke is fine, yours looks around 5-8px? much too large, and it cuts off the tail in your text.

    Background is a little on the plain side, try adding a C4D to enhance depth.

    Render is OK, still white around the hair though. Effect is good :)

    Re: The Signature Thread

    The render I got from PlanetRenders.com...so that's not totally my fault..I thought she was hot and I 'grabbed' it...lol

    The border is 8px..I'll remember for the next sig I do to make it smaller. I love the feed back.

    I kind of like "plain" looking sigs, because right now I don't know how to do the more "difficult" ones with like a bizillion layers.

    plain is nice to, this is where me and almo differ, he likes crazy background and i like simple backgrounds as i believe the focus should be on the character you choose and not the complexity of the sig.
    and its your own personal preffence any way

    Re: The Signature Thread

    No, you could do that but if you want a more proffessional sig you would have to do layers instead...

    holy cr*p... i read the former pages and when i got to page 10 or so... DQ got his ass whooped... haha no offence man... i was supposed to use MSpaint but from what i read... its highly unrecommended... >.< im fiddling with GIMP right now... and i have no idea what im doing... XD

    *edit* yey... hooray for DQ for successfully making a sig using GIMP... im like story telling what happened on the previous pages....

    anyway... just a quick question... how do you make renders? o_O"? i got a whole lot of pics in my house that i want to use...

    *edit* this will be the last coz im going to bed... can anyone find me a render of the any of the fire emblem series... where the thief dodges the attack...
