It would depend on how good the friendship is, firstly. If not exceptional, then it's pretty much all game. If you're best friends, then just saying you have feeling for the other friend should provide sufficient enough for the other person to either accept or decline. Then, of course, time is the key to maintaining a friendship. Although I don't believe in friendships between males and females; can be friends, but the male's mind will always waver that much farther.
