I mentioned it and Bioshock as a comparison to Deus Ex and why it is one of the greatest of games.

Bioshock isnt even that much of an rpg/shooter mix.

Ok, you obviously missed what I was saying about Deus Ex. I said mechanics, as in the gameplay mechanics are slightly primitive due to the aging factor. Also, graphics aren't the best anymore since the game is really old at this point. Furthermore, yes, it is a good game, however, it is not worthy of worship and it is certainly not the best game out there. If you believe it is, you have not played many games.

I have played many games and it is certainly right up there as one of the best game ever made.
It is worthy to credit the game as it represents one of the major innovations the gaming world has ever seen. "Emergent Gameplay", Something that is often associated with Deus Ex.

No game from this generation can be considered as revolutionary or innovative however polished they are.
Maybe with the exception for games like Portal. Even Portal's impact isn't quite as large as past revolutions. Most innovations of today come from indie games and being indie means that their impact are not as noticeable as normal, big-budgeted games.

Surely, Deus Ex's shooting mechanics is dated, A.I is horrible by today's standard and graphics is bad. But since when do we judge a game's impact to the game design process by using Graphics and A.I? Those are merely to enhance the experience and something every developers can do depending on the platform's limitation and money.

What is among the best games out there? Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA 4, Bioshock, Crysis, Starcraft 2, Mario Galaxy 2, Halo, Gears of War?
All of the above are superb games but none can be considered as a revolution to game design. They are simply games that are dressed up with modern technology, tweaked here and there, put different settings and polished in some are like mission/level design, camera, etc.
    Clearly, you misinformed about me.
I've played some of those games and many other games before playing Deus Ex. Still, it captures the essence of my intellect more than any other games.
I cherished games that take risk and challenge how people design more than "Facial Expression, high polygon with crazy budget" games.

    @Alkratos
Stop derailing the topic, Deus Ex is from 2000. Its 10 years to early to even be called a "Classic game".
Hell, the game I listed above are from the 80's.

I didn't mentioned Deus Ex, I mentioned X-Com and stated it is on par with Deus Ex as one of the best game ever made. A guy came and I was simply trying to defend the positive things about Deus Ex.

Im saddened that no one has mentioned Quake or Unreal yet.

Im not sure but i think that Unreal was one of the first multiplayer FPS games released.

Hmmm oldest PC game ever that I can remember would have to be Millenium Leaper and that came out for the Apple IIc. Were talking huge 2.5 floppies, I remember playing this game when I was in the 4th grade and that was in the late 80's. If anyone wants to learn more about this great game from my past I've enclosed a link.

Funny how I still play it to this day, only now I play it on my DS :p

First FPS game was WolfStein 3D

Followed by Doom and a few years later, Quake and Half-life.

Half-life and Unreal came together... so I guess Unreal got overshadowed by it.

Ohey, nearly forgot about this. Some of these games sound like it'd be fun on my android, but I doubt there are many, if any of those home computer emulators things.
