    I will end it all.
X-COM: UFO DEFENSE-go find it on STEAM (1994)

Right up there with Deus Ex as the best game of all time. DONE

If you do not play it, seriously, you're not going to be older than 13 mentally.

That's how great that game was and is and will still be.

Quote this post to ask me more about it.

If we ignore the card games and pinballs arcades. First official "digital game" was "Tennis for two" on 1958, made by William Higinbotham.

Second game of great repercussion was SpaceWars! on 1961 by Steve Roussel.

And even if there were some other versions before, PONG (the arcade) is from 1972.

    ...
Obviously not a single soul play those nowadays.

    Doom ?
It was popular back then and some people still play it now.

All of us playing doom still wonder why we do. At least go as recent as Deus Ex like was previously stated. Kind of primitive in the mechanics, but, the story is superb. Not much can be said for the sequel though.

Deus Ex concept is not primitive dude. It is still unsurpassed in replay-ability among single-player games.
Also, how it blends action, role-playing and stealth.
Games like ME2, Bioshock are nothing compared to it. Those games, while having the modern polish, lack of depth Deus Ex has.

Did you hack cameras and throw scramble grenade to robots so that they fight against each other?
    In Mass Effect 2:
Did you find an alternate path to steal or hack a computer?
Did you find a ventilation channel and crawl through it and back-stab your target?
Did you play the game all the way by using only one type of weapon?
    Did you not kill anyone?
Did you jump from a building to another building?
Did you find a note and use its information to aid your mission?
Did you cure yourself by a surgery using only household materials?
Did you jump from a 10 story building to the ground below to escape?
Did you only stun people all the way?
Did you only eat and drink and not use a medkit/healing gel/omnigel all the way?
Did you become a demolition-man by sticking special explosive to walls and trick your enemies to blow themselves?
Did you only snipe people from a far all the way?
Did you poison all the enemies in a room?
Did you find a code and hack into computers to look at e-mails and secret deals?
Did you collect metal crates and pile them up to make a ladder to climb for a back window?
Did you get to choose your bio-light or flare to lighten up the dark alleys?
Did you lose your legs and drag yourself to escape?
Did you shoot a barrel of explosive to divert enemies attention?
Did you use a fire extinguisher on the enemies faces?
Did you use flamethrower to burn those who are in your way?
Did you drink alcohol and deteriorate you sight and shoot blindly and still get a lucky shot or two?
Did you smoke to calm yourself when sniping?
Did you choose to become a walking tank and just use heavy weapon or a melee fighter who only use Katana to kill?
    Did you injured your hand?
Did you choose to have and eye that can reveal extra information or an eye that can see through walls by using thermal-like detector?

If you say so, you haven't played Mass Effect 2 yet.
