Speaking of noise, have you ever heard "noise music"?
The video is worth a laugh, but after about 15 seconds, it gives you that unresistable urge to kill everyone you see, shortly followed by your own chaotic suicide. :)

I like something I can think about while I'm listening to it, so i've never really favoured modern metal. But yeah, I thought the music was okay as well.

here's an interesting Russian band I dug out

    song here

though if you wish there 3 mp3s with better sound quality
    in here

    I especially liked S.O.S.

by the way for interested people here is an interesting site http://www.metal-archives.com/

why I consider this site interressting?

e.g. according to that site there are overall only 145 official metal bands that were originaly formed in New Zealand where as Japan has 883 :p and Poland 1908 and that a lot of bands like to call them Abyss

I personally prefer the more technical and progressive bands - I guess I'll just post my top 10 to save space:
    Cynic
    Death
    Dream Theater
    The Faceless
    Into Eternity
    Martyr
    Necrophagist
    Redemption
    Spastic Ink
    Watchtower

I've recently started listening to Dream Theater, with their lyrics and style of, well, playing I'd say they're their own genre really, I've never heard anything like them before. Just like Sid Barrett, after he left Pink Floyd he'd made the most psychedelic tunes ever, they deserve their own place in the History of Music.

Dream Theater are officially classed as Progressive Metal, but they've tried most things.

and you might even fall in to the world of progressive metal. once your in you can never get out and anything not progressive sounds boring and rubbish and it gets worse because you have to find even more progressive metal.

talking about dream theater does anyone agree with with that their music started to go down hill at octavarium and when they moved over to roadrunner with their latest album they destroyed all that was good about them.
distortion effets on vocals COME ON!!!!! its less progressive and starting to sound more generic (starting to sound like every other band on roadrunner)
