lol would help if midway came up in the search also aim for aces is actually ace wo nerae i searched kirby i swear and nothing came up!! will give you this one..... im gonna download them and try on zsnes though, im gonna catch you out on something Post Merge: [time]1272226039[/time] ok i tried all the games you linked to and kirby is the only one that doesn't work, it stalls or something i still think zsnes is the best though, this is one thing i will not budge on because my experience with it has been faultless(except for that damn kirby)
The only better SNES emulator than Snes9x is BSNES: http://www.romhacking.net/utils/273/ My only concern with it is you can't drag & re-size the game window to whatever size you want. Also it doesn't support a few SNES input devices that Snes9x fully supports. But as for accurate SNES emulation, BSNES smokes both ZSNES & Snes9x.
i just tried bsnes, plays fine, better than snes9x its not full screen though it always has the bar at the top, zsnes is still best(imo)
Cahos, I picked ZSNES not because it performs best, I picked it because EVERYONE has used it and 90% of the users still use it to this day. Age is also a factor, wasn't ZSNES one of the first SNES emulators to play commercial games, and it's still the most popular SNES emulator used today!
Popular does not equal best. just look at the iPod and iPad to prove that. Plus, I've never used zsnes, I've always used snes9x and never had any problems with it so I have no need to try anything else.
Here are my "best" emulator selection for several consoles & the reason why I chose them: NES/Famicom - NEStopia version 1.37 This emulator has "THE BEST" ROMs supported versus Games not supported compatibility ratio than the rest. However, you definitely must get version 1.37 & not the latest one/s (1.38~1.41) because right after version 1.38 was released, the emulator's developer dropped support for a very few iNES Mappers. You'd think these few mappers are insignificant seeing they're just five or six of 'em, but these mappers are the ones used by NES ROMs that are un-licensed &/or prototype ROMs. A best example of a game that will no longer run on version 1.38 & above is "Free Fall" & though that game sucked for some people, I absolutely like/appreciate it. Also after version 1.39, the developer made his emulator "properly" emulate the NES/Famicom hardware, & this served more of a nuisance than help since now the emulator will not recognize hard patched ROMs seeing hard patched ROMs are no longer "the original ROM/s" the emulator knows of. Worse of all you'd have to rely on that lame soft patching feature for a fan translation or a mod hack to run on said emulator. So yeah, though NESTopia 1.41 is better in terms of proper hardware emulation, version 1.38 is still best when it comes to game compatibility. SNES - Snes9x Do I need to elaborate further? GBA - VisualBoyAdvance Un-contested thus far except if you consider the fact that no$gba emulates the Solar Sensor feature for the Boktai games & VBA doesn't. Too bad both emulators don't support link function, well there is VBA-L or VBA-M but I haven't heard anything new about both of these VBA "enhanced/modified" versions since late 2008. Gameboy/GBC - TGB Dual OK, actually VBA looks cooler but it doesn't have link function support, TGB Dual has it but the emulator lacks video filter options So expect if you enlarge the emulator's window (just like I do) to play in a bigger display, that you'd see everything in pixel o-vision. Another cool feature, or rather GBC emulation capability of TGB Dual over VBA is that TGB Dual runs/loads Lufia: The Legend Returns without the emulator seriously lagging. It's actually pretty weird & one issue anandjones & I wondered about back when I posted a thread about VBA seriously lagging when that one particular GBA game is loaded on VBA. N64 - none Sadly both Project 64 & 1964 are at par when it comes to N64 emulation, if one game doesn't run properly on Project64 you can expect 1964 can. Oh & recently a modified version of Project64 dubbed Project64K was released, this version supports netplay. Nintendo DS - no$gba The best, so far PSOne - epsxe Sadly you need two versions of this emulator to run games, the latest one & an older one. This is because some games, mostly Squaresoft RPGs don't run properly on the latest version but does with the older one. Also this emulator is a bit finicky as you need to tweak it's plug ins, the best ones like pete's plug ins does not come bundled with the emulator per se & must be found by yourself on the net. A task that might be a bit risky, unless you know where the best & safest place to go to get them. Also, retrieving a copy of the PSOne BIOS image is a risky bit to do. Sega master system/Genesis/Game Gear/ Sega 32x - Fusion The fact it's a multi-console emulator is enough reason why Fusion is better than GENS or GENS32. Also, Fusion IS the only one that can run/load Sonic 3D (at the time which was in 2008 when I tried Sega games). There you go, my list of the best emulators for several systems I could have added MAME on there too but I haven't used it yet as I don't know how to use it LOL! And I was actually waiting for someone on RomUlation to put up a "How to setup & use MAME Tutorial" on here so I can learn how to use it.
CRV-The bios is easy, other forums hold them, or as I did....TORRENTS! I don't have a ps1 to extract from
i use: atari 2600 - no$2k6 commodore 64 - ccs64 amiga - winuae nes - virtualnes mastersystem - fusion megadrive - fusion gameboy - kigb jaguar - virtualjaguar gamecube - dolphin dreamcast - nulldc n64 -project64 psx - pSX saturn - SSF snes - zses DS - no$gba
Spoiler: Me uses these emulators On PC: NDS: No$GBA & DeSmuME GBA: VBA & No$GBA N64: Project 64 SNES: Snes9x NES: NESTen On Wii: N64: Wii64 PSX: WiiSX GBA/GBC/GB: Visual Boy Advance GX SNES: Snes9x GX NES: FCE Ultra GX And this list is not done yet
You know, I'm going to switch to No$GBA for DS games, I was using DESmume, but it sorta sucks. Most people use Project64 only because it's more widely known than 1964. I use PJ64's newest version, the one that you have to pay for but I got mine free.
I agree with all, but this site doesn't have some roms so I prefer to get a second opinions like 2 ds emulators instead of 1, but the Snes emulator you named is the best and the translator you named Ghideon Zhi of AGTP is probably working on or not on Maple Story DS. Post Merge: [time]1272427490[/time] and if your bored let me tell you the wonders of PS2 emulators
Would love to but my computer is currently running on just 256 mb of RAM, I'm lucky to run ePSXe at top speed. I need another job...
Actually, the best emulator would be Stella and StellaX, that emulates all Atari 2600 games with total compatibility. Other one would be ePSXe that can read original PSX disks(using the PSX BIOS).
I think this was discussed earlier. It's only better in that it's easier to use, it doesn't support as many games as ePSXe
