oh man it's been so long since I've been to LA : ( I don't remember much since my last visit was as a kid, but now I regret not checking out the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Really interesting architecture, if you're into that.
You're going at it wrong. I live in LA. Tourist-LA is terrible. Tourist Hollywood is terrible. There are amazing clubs and bars all through the night with some great djs, music, and people depending on which night. The "hipper" La is in Silverlake throughout Echo Park, and recently it's been migrating to Downtown LA. Check out Little Tokyo and all the Warehouses around there as they're mostly converted into gallery and performance spaces, venues, etc. Hit me up, let me know what kind of scene/music/experience you're into. If you are just looking for some great entertainment and food, I can direct you to that too. You should try to check out Hollywood Forever if you can, it's a nice la experience, they screen movies once a week at the Hollywood Forever cemetary and you can bring food n booze. When they screened Pee Wee's Big Adventure, the entire original cast came out and presented it. Anyway, if you're into bars/clubs/night-life stuff, art/museums, whatever, lemme know. i'll give you the 'inside' info. LA weekly might not be a bad pick for the most accessible guide to some interesting events, just burn any tourist guides, AAA food guides, etc. Everyone hates LA because you have to be "in-the-know" to even start to enjoy it here. Post Merge: [time]1256018979[/time] PS: If you're immediately bored, if you're staying near Hollywood and Highland, you can check out Amoeba Records on Gower and... Sunset I think? Around the corner is a Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles if you want a kickass dinner you'll never forget. The best fried chicken you've ever had coupled with the best waffle you ever had. Don't forget to try the lemonade ;D
Hope you have fun, try and find Mickey Haller (laughs), you need to come to Australia though its a good place
Well, I go to LA once a year to buy manga, and if your into Japanese books and music there is a Kinokuniya in little Tokyo not too far from Hollywood (its downtown, so you can't walk or anything...). There's other stores too but I always spend all my money at used Japanese bookstores farther south and then spend even more at Kinokuniya so there's none left to spend anywhere else... Personally I also love Japanese food, and though not excellent or anything their is a nice variety. In Weller court (where the Kinokuniya bookstore is) there is a curry place that has a smaller menu for lunchtime, but really good menchi katsu curry. And there's a shabu shabu place which is fun if you've never had it. Koreatown (I'm half Korean) is nearer to Hollywood if you like Korean food. There's a unique and delicious restaurant on Olympic called Seoul Hagwan/ Seoul Garden. It's kind of like shabu shabu. Even though I'm regularly a tourist in LA I know nothing else about it b/c as mentioned all available funds are spent on manga... If any info is wanted on where to buy manga in LA county just ask BTW, what did you end up doing in Orlando?
I was gonna say if you had more transportation options available to you since i was born and raised in california i could suggest a couple of places but since you are limited on transportation i won't mention going to six flags magic mountain or disneyland. but since i'm sure you could take a taxi to it why not go to universal studios? it's not far from hollywood and i'm pretty sure it's not far from where you are located it. since if i remember correctly you aren't too far away from the hollywood bowl. Although if you can get down to it i would suggest maybe check out venice beach or the santa monica pier. those are just a few suggestions. I understand that you are limited in transportation options. but here are a few suggestions to throw at you.
So Your in LA? ;D Well unless i confused it with Las vegas...CASINO! and by the way There is alot od ghost over their. ...
I want to go to LA for one reason and one reason only. To see the Dodgers play baseball. When the Dodgers win game 5 in their series and come back to play game 6 and 7 you should maybe try and get some tickets for that.
