you are wrong by far. The leveling and magic system sucked. The best final fantasies are the ones from I to VI and 8 and 9... 7 is overrated

I'll let you in on a story.
My uncle died three days before Final Fantasy 2(Japan's 4) was released on the SNES.
Before he died, take a guess what he brought me.
After the funeral, as tears ran down my face, my mom showed me what he had went to the game store at 2A.M to buy me. Final Fantasy 2. I played it from 9P.M. when we got home, till 3A.M. I was allowed to skip school the next day, but went anyways. I took my SNES and FF2 with me, during first period, my teacher let us hook up my Super Nintendo to the TV. And we played, and played, and played. My uncle will never be forgotten, and as corny as it sounds, when Tellah used meteo(meteor) and died, I said goodbye to my uncle. He devoted his life to protecting others, and I sill smile when I hear, "You spoony bard." RIP John, uncle sonny. I'll see you soon my friend.

Thank you for the kind and wisdom filled words.
Video games have helped me through good, and bad times alike.
If not for video games, would I have met one hell of a community, and guys like Sin, and Rock?
The Fantasy maybe Final, but the dream will never die. Not so long as the guys above me, and the community at large exist. Thank you all.

The dream will never die, My New Year's Resolution (which I couldn't think of before) is now that when I turn 65, I will buy the newest game system and the newest release of Final Fantasy and play until I beat it, no matter what.

My favorite is definitely 10, nice graphics, good music, i loved the emotional scene before the final boss fight, it really helped put it on top for me.

7 is my second one, since it's the first one i beat

3rd would be FF9

4th FF3 (DS/NES)

5th is FF4 (DS one)

6th would be 6, 6 was an ok game, nothing really to set it apart from any other FF game, it might have been higher on the list if it wasn't for the ungodly stupid final dungeon, i will never forgive the game for that. Going through the whole game only really needing to use 4 or so people, then getting slapped at the final dungeon and being forced to use 12 out of the 13 party members, i don't think so. I gamesharked at the end so i could get my horribley underleveled and underskilled people to the end, i was not gonna spend hours raising my levels and skills, the other option was to do some tedious crap involving switching out parties midway through to get through the dungeon with one team.

I couldnt rate them because i love them all. I am a huge final fantasy fan and too put one above another is hard for me to contemplate and although it might sound cliche I have always found ff7 to be my favorite. I enjoy them all though and what i like best is the story lines. FF7 had the best story in my opinion with FF12 having one of the best combat systems. I just like how they changed it up and added something new.

Let me share my two cents here though: FFIV and FFIX were two my first few RPGs when I was just a child, but having played FFIV first, I'll continue to hold the game in high regards to another title in the series, and while I have played the majority of the other titles, they didn't seem to capture my attention as both of those have, aside from FF Tactics. So, to tell the truth, I see these two as the best Final Fantasy games out there.

Thank you White Dragon. Your words, though short, held high meaning in my heart. But this was never intended to be a sad topic, and I strongly apologize to Allkratos for turning it in that direction. It was just to show that video games can be therapeutic in many ways to help people get through tough times. They have even been shown to cut recovery times in surgeries, such as: elbow, shoulder(which I had), wrist, and even eye surgery. Final Fantasy(IV) allowed me to step into a world of someone who was as conflicted as I was. Not Cecil so much, but Kain, who from a distance wanted someone who loved someone else. Most of us have been there at some time.

Glad I could help out, and it's only natural to sympathize with someone who's lost a loved one, everyone looses someone special to them at some point in time, some sooner then others, but you're never alone. And I agree with you about Kain, he had been an excellent character, and honestly, Cecil had it easier then the others in the game.
