I forgot about the international version, the dark aeons, and Penance too.
Thanks for reminding me. Damn Dark Bahamut was murderous.

I think he's responsible for starting the trend of whiny male protagonists that have absolutely no testosterone in their bodies.
Cloud, Squall, Tidus, VAAN arrrgghhhh! and Hope. Squall was cool, but displayed hardly any emotion. As soon as we got to Tidus, it's just WHINE WHINE WHINE. We need protagonists more like Auron, badass in every way.

The GFs in FF8 were long as hell too, but at least you could get over 150% damage (or 250% hehe) with them. In every single game, the Summons were good in the beginning, but after around the 3rd disc of any game (or at an equivalent point in games that don't have [multiple] discs), the Summons were slow in comparison to damage per second output.

To me, the locations of FF7 and FF8 were of the same creative quality.

    Much love. ♥

You may leave this thread now forever. Good day.

I don't understand how they couldn't make more characters like Auron. He is what a protagonist in the FF series should be. Instead we have, well, you know.

The GF's were also vital to survival. Try going through the game without at least a few abilities with your GF's. You'll crash and burn so fast it's insane. Of course, magic junctions play a huge role too, but GF's play a role in that too. The length of the summons was long, but with purpose. You don't care about the length when that's all time to inflict maximum damage. Never did get all the GF's though. Got Bahamut and didn't get any after.

Being honest, I've never really been fond of locations in any game I've played. It's just never part of the game I've found myself overly interested in.

By your logic, FF IX is the best as it has the biggest collective review score. 94 metacritic.
    FF 7 is 92 last I checked.
That said, I think FF 7 overall is better than FF IX.
So, even collective review is subjective.

Too bad final fantasy sucks as a whole, so all of your opinions mean about as much as a cow does to a fish.

I think all of us can agree that no FF has equaled Chrono Trigger so far.
FF VI comes close but random battles and not having different time periods hold it back.
Also, the music of FF is behind compared to what Yashunori Mitsuda had produced.

Why would FF VI need Time Periods? There isn't any Time Travel if I recall.

That's what set CT apart from most RPGs back then. Time Travel opened a route for a wider story design.
Not to say FF VI is not good, it's amazing but I think CT has the upper hand.

I dunno... There are stories that are better then CT's and those didn't involve time travel.

Do you realize that what you do in a period can affect events in the future?
    That's what makes CT special.

I understand back then CT's idea was probably fresh and inspiring, but now, Time Travel is overused. I myself don't fancy Time Travel, since they always get the concept wrong.

WTF was that you quoted by me? I never wrote that, look again.
And is that the best you can come up with? You slag me off saying I don't understand a debate and its you that doesn't. Good answer, well debated....
If its too hard for you to comprehend GTFO.

What do you mean by MY logic?
I said we needed some facts, the score was just an example. What about a game with the best programming? Something that introduced something that revolutionised RPG's or something?
Based on game sales FF7 is the best as its sold the most, therefore more people like it best.
At least these are facts to back up claims, and not just opinions that mean nothing to the next person.
People can look at these facts that people produce to back up their claims and decide which is best.

Re: THE BEST FINAL FANTASY (ALL INCLUDED)

So Farmville is the best game ever because so many people played it, more so than FF VII.
FF7 did not revolutionized RPG gameplay wise. In fact, a lot of FF7 game designs are not what games supposed to follow.

Re: THE BEST FINAL FANTASY (ALL INCLUDED)

I read your initial post thinking it was sarcasm, and I'm wrong.

Game sales and critic scores are not indicative of quality. There's general consensus, and there's game sales but they're different from quality.

Scores are not 'facts', they're 'professionally' written opinions.

Re: THE BEST FINAL FANTASY (ALL INCLUDED)

But how many paid for farmville and how many would? Its only because its free and in their facebook making it convenient.
I never said FF7 revolutionized anything, that was just an example, maybe FF1 did?
FF1 must have a strong claim as the best because it was ahead of its time and gave us new things.

Re: THE BEST FINAL FANTASY (ALL INCLUDED)

DQ came out before FF1 and FF1 did not revolutionize anything past DQ.

FF1 was Square's attempt to copy DQ's success in a last ditch effort to save their company, as their previous attempts for games yield little success in terms of sales.
