Now once.. I'd like to see someone actually STUDY Japanese to learn the language, not look at a guide for about 5 minutes and then say "YATTA! I know Japanese~desu"
It puts a dent in the otaku business...

My point exactly, I have friends who actually STUDY Japanese and can tell me exactly what something says and what it means.

HOLY SHIT for real? it's just a small thread on the internet. Why do you all bitch so much?
It DOES help a bit so stop complaining and make your own ''perfect guide'' if you are better.
    Well? I'm waiting

I don't think you see the point.
    I can't make a perfect guide.
I don't think anyone here can. One can look at this guide and become the PERFECT weeaboo
but to know the language and to speak the language without a flaw calls for months maybe years of study.

There are things you can learn from Japanese games and anime, like bad words, slang, and informal speaking in general. A Japanese text book usually doesn't tell you that "heei" is just a lazy punk way of saying "yeah." And I've never heard an English guide to the Osaka accent, lol.

Studying, probably. But anime, Never. Let me quote a phrase.

"You can't learn Japanese that can help you in real life when you watch anime. I don't need one hundred ways to say KILL or DIE in japanese."

I like how being realistic automatically makes me a hater. More assumptions please. Maybe you could tell me my height, weight, and a/s/l?

THAT IS WHY WE HAVE SUBTITLES IF YOU WANT TO WATCH ANIMU WITHOUT SUBTITLES BEST BE LEARNING JAPANESE PROPERLY YADIDIMEAN?
Also I contend that you learn very little Japanese from anime, as well as nothing about Japan itself. I've got a working knowledge of Japanese, spent years with the language (and I've also watched plenty of anime) so really my opinion here is just as valid, if not moreso, than anyone who's going "OMG YATTA THIS GUIDE IS TOTTEMO SUGOII~ DATTEBAYO"

I'm not going to bash the whole guide though - one thing that I do think could come in handy is the guide to honorifics (sometimes subbers don't explain these well/at all). The "100 Essential Words" thing though? Garbage. If you're going to learn a language, do it properly instead of learning "essential" words for what basically amounts to children's entertainment.

Better believe it. I'm a mushroom cloud-laying motherfucker, motherfucker.

Useless argument is useless :p ....read point 6 of the guide. That is the point which helps you learn Japanese and NOT the 100 words

This is more useless than you know. Christ on a bicycle. I'm asking what the point is for having a list of 100 words in Japanese and pointing out from an experienced viewpoint that anime isn't really a valid learning resource unless you already have plenty of experience with Japanese, and you have simply skipped my questions like an idiot. What do you mean "understand anime", for starters?

Basically when it comes to criticism all I see you doing is resorting to calling people names and ignoring their questions, which leads me to believe that you couldn't give a shit about anyone who isn't kissing your ass. You seem to be quite happy with replying to people going "THANK YOU I LOVE THIS GUIDE." How about doing me the same courtesy?

I like how people say they learnt Japanese off Anime.
Seriously, some Anime's not even Japanese people themselves know what they are talking about.

Either spend some money on lessons, buy a book, learn online or just don't do it.

Anyway, this whole guide screams weeaboo so I'm just going to head off.

And I learned that people don't know that learnt inst a word. Rather than learnt you should use English and say learned.
