I agree - they should only patch what is needed to be patched in the hex - and also don't trim the rom

Yes might decrypt _DS_MENU.dat and find out what and use the GameID and see what the hex was for the fix

YAY! It works....And yes, an R4 replacement file was genius. No patch or fix, just a new data file that fixes every problem!

 

Makes me wish I'd got a r4 instead of an itouchds. :'(
But I guess this means there is hope for the rest of us.
