Yes but not as powerful as high end PC. A lot of people went to upgrade their PC so that they can run Starcraft 2 in ultra even though the game itself runs fairly well on average PC but they want minimal lag, Fastest speed and maximum visual.

Tell me what the specs for the "high-end PC" that you are imagining are.

So you need a high end PC more powerful than a ps3 to run starcraft 2?
Or will a ps3 run it?

IT will run but Downgraded simply because of the RAM limitation. 4GB RAM ultra dude.

It doesn't need 4GB of RAM at all.

More RAM will allow other programs to run alongside it more smoothly though.

It does not need 4GB, it only needs 1GB but to run it on ultra it does. LOL

It isn't just the game that's using the RAM.

PS3 Cell processor is far more powerful than any PC processor ever made.

Cell processor is indeed powerful but the whole PS3 itself isn't more powerful than the a whole high end PC. RAM and GFX Card being the best example.

the ram is faster than PC ram as well, its just there isnt much of it. Which makes sense since XDR ram is incredibly expensive.

One of the reason why PS3 is not as expensive as a high end PC even though the Cell outperform PC CPU in for scientific calculation.

So because you may have 4gig ram you think it needs that to run?
    No.
    It requires 2 gig max.

No. It needs a lot to run on everything set to ultra. Still, that doesn't even count a more demanding game like Napoleon:Total War or the upcoming Shogun 2.

It cannot use more than 2GB because windows won't allocate more than 2GB to a single program without a special boot switch.

So having 6GB RAM is not that useful to run games?

Dont forget that you need a bit of ram to run you computer own stuff.

    Still there is a limit.

no, it isnt. Even with the boot switch, only 3GB can be allocated to a single program.

That is why RTS can be made Crysis like.
