nvidia is gtx295 and ati is hd4870x2. nvidia pawned ati on this one (gtx295 is much better), but if you're talking about a price/quality relation, then the hd4870 1GB pawns everything else. except for the ati rage II, that is.

memory bit depth is pretty irrelevant, as is the type of memory. Additionally, there is no link between graphics ram and system ram, so if your system uses one DDR standard it does not matter what GDDR standard your graphics card uses
