Also I played DmC and I liked it. Deal with it.

 

Manah 2.0 as well. One(?) is the spitting image of her, especially with those red eyes of hers.
Oh, and speaking of eyes, it looks like Zero(?) has a lunar tear growing out of one, I wonder if that's connected to her pact or to Nier in any way.

What did you like about it? I pirated it and didn't find it fun at all.
Everything felt ridiculously easy and simple compared to the old games, and both the soundtrack and the platforming were just grating on me.
It felt more like a combination of Heavenly Sword and Enslaved than a DMC game.

I should point out that I haven't played any of the original series, which is a significant caveat. I pirated it as well, and ignored the EDGY as best I could. Platforming is reasonably enjoyable, and the combat is fluid, though I can definitely understand the complaints about lack of moves and the dumbing down of the scoring system. Doesn't feel as CUHRAYZEE as I'm told Devil May Cry should be, and I hate the lack of a lockon to the point where I'd say I had more fun in Darksiders 2 with the combat.

With that said, again, I enjoy the platforming aspects of the game and the aesthetics are excellent. Animations are nice and fluid. Music's hit and miss. Script is godawful. It's a game where I don't have to think too hard and can just have fun hitting things.

That's pretty much what the original series was but far far better with a decent soundtrack and likeable albeit cheesy characters.
You should try 3 or 4, they're fairly easy to get into and are widely considered to be the best in the series.

 

Flipside is that DMC games always had shit stories so that much didn't change.

Metal Gear Rising was definitely the better game overall for me this time.

 

That's because the story was never important in the first place.
In DmC they actually tried to add some depth to the story and failed miserably.

Haven't tried Rising yet, but I've played the demo and it didn't really interest me.
Is it really as good as everybody's saying it is?

Well, I think it is. DmC's main problem for me was that I had absolutely no worries whatsoever about dying. Metal Gear Rising at least managed to keep me on my toes and the boss fights actually made me feel awesome when I managed to beat them.

There's also something utterly hilarious about having somebody trying to kill me even after I cut off their arms and legs too.
