    Could be worse, my sister injects 4 times a day for the rest of her life. That wasn't expected either.

    It's not that bad. I still manage to absorb some B12, and I'd be perfectly fine if I lead a healthier lifestyle.
    The only reason I'm being put on injections rather than suppliments is because the NHS want to be on the safe side, not because I absolutely need it.

    Ouch. Isn't that kinda dangerous, though? Don't veins collapse when you constantly injected stuff into them?

    I think she rotates injection sites, but she's type 1 diabetic so if she didn't inject she'd die in fairly short order. I don't know the specifics but she injects a lot more than she used to because she now has multiple types of insulin (so-called 'fast-acting' and 'slow-acting')

    I believe they've found a treatment for type 1 diabetes using your body's own stem cells. so maybe she'll only have to continue injecting for another decade or so.

    depends how the clinical trials go and whether or not it gets regulatory approval in the UK (and whether or not the NHS will pay for it).
