Sub-genres are stupid.

 

And sub-sub-genres are even worse.

 

That's exactly what nu-metal is. The fusion of metal with other genres, like rap. Is nu-metal not metal, now?

Anyway, yeah, I'm not trying to be a genre-whore. They're human terms to conveniently categorize artists but they are often ambiguous and they don't define the content of music anyway.

 

Yeah, I admit that some Skrillex songs are decent (his older ones) , but he started to make brostep since scary monsters and nice sprites. And I honestly don't care what I look like. It's hard to put a group in one genre, knife party is a great example. Skrillex used to make dubstep, but not anymore. Like, Kiss also tried Disco.

 

Fucking elitist assholes, man. They always be trying to sub-sub genres. Like when they make up a sub-sub-genre and it's only definition is "It's like the ____ sub-genre, only with stuff-in-it-that-I-hate/people-I-hate-playing-it".

 

Jesus fuck is it so difficult to say "I don't like his new stuff as opposed to the old for x reason(s)" instead of "WAAAH NOT REAL DUBSTEP BECAUSE DIVERGENCE FROM THESE ARBITRARY NORMS"?

 

Hybrid genres can be kind of nice, especially when you mix folk + metal.

 

His new stuff isn't dubstep.
