    It installed homebrew channel and bootmii, but all I really want to do is add on a thing so I can run "backups" off an SD Card or off a USB Thumbdrive, however all the guides are overly complex.

    Somebody should easily be able to help you with backup loading. It will be a tough process at first, but you'll learn.
