My christmas consists of a 3k check from work, yet nobody important to spend it on. I don't even like myself that much...

Friends all have family things to do. Every last one of them. Thus, my Christmas blows.

I'm getting myself a late gift of fixing my DS. Then my money will be gone.

None of my extended family visits, my sister isn't coming home from college, so it's just me, my mom, and my dad whom I can barely stand to be in the same space with for more than 30 seconds.

Heh, same here, sure they helped raise me, and helped with my nice bank balance, but mum spends money like hell, keeps loosing her wallet and gets agro quickly, dad wants "respect", but calling ym 13yr brother a dumbass and yet getting all mad just because he said "he" instead of "dad" when talking to mum?

    THE FUCK IS THIS!?

    That sounds odd.
I have an indifferent relationship with my parents, due to family issues, but I respect them (they did give me a home) XP

She's my mom. She wants me to get to know her more as a person, but I don't want to break the parent-child relationship. I don't believe in your parent being your friend.

I'm too young to hate my mom cause she provides for me.

    all moms want that

My parents try, but they inevitably endlessly screw up. They have themselves in a harsh cycle that they won't be out of forever. After near 50 years, I can't teach them how to manage their money well. It just won't stick.

try allowances with absolute set limits and no raises. like $40 a week for them to share and that includes food. they'll cheap up real fast if the dont wanna die of starvation

For me it was $5 a week, no increase, infact I got it cut off because mum was getting poor..

Then my luck went up, I claimed a disability support pension, so that was $200 a fort night, got a job, vut out the pension, got $600 a week...then I paid $200 board a month.

Now I get $400 a week, $150 board a month, and still happy.
